7730 DIS Code 32 (Page 2/2)

Did you tune it or have someone else burn the chip?

It was done by Ryan at GM Tuners/Sinister Performance. I emailed him on the issue, and he suggested removing the EGR tube restrictor orifice. I haven't done that, yet. Just wanted to see if anyone else encountered the same problem before I dove into it.

The $88 DIS code mask uses a vacuum drop method to determine if the EGR is working (flowing exhaust gases) when it runs the diagnostic tests on the EGR valve. Basically, as you are decelerating, the ECM will turn each EGR solenoid on and off, and it expects to see a certain amount of manifold vacuum drop corresponding with each EGR solenoid being activated. If the ECM does not see the expected vacuum drop during this diagnostic test, it will set a code 32 which then disables the EGR valve for the rest of the drive cycle.

I suggested removing the EGR restrictor plate the factory Fiero uses to see if this would solve the code 32 issue. It should be noted that if the exhaust system has been modified to reduce restrictions in order to make it flow better, that could also cause a false code 32 to set (due to there not being enough exhaust backpressure to promote EGR system flow).

The converter has been removed, but otherwise nothing has been done to the exhaust system. I've been occupied and when not occupied, I've been lazy and haven't removed the restrictor orifice as you suggested.

Does it get its vacuum signal from the MAP sensor?
