Obviously, you do not appreciate the help so " Good Luck"

What the heck? Where did you even get that impression?
This is an experiment. Many things will be tried. Some will work - some will not.
At no point did I ever say "no, you're wrong"
The only thing I said is "I'm going to set up a test bench and probe to see what happened"

Title - Who's an expert on stock radios ?
To me, this was a question....
You asked other questions:
| quote | Originally posted by ArthurPeale I'm trying to figure out if I fried the Bluetooth board in the manner in which I installed it. Also, which thing did I hurt on the radio the last time I reassembled it. |
|
So, I answered your questions with 'why'
However, you didn't like my advice.
No, you didn't say "you're wrong" per se, but I saw that my help isn't needed, and I said "Good Luck"

you also said

I'm honestly not sure why you seem to be insulted that I wanted to probe around a bit. It literally affects you naught, and you've already stated that you're NOT an expert (emphasis: yours)
Other people have NOT installied a switch with similar installs. And, because of that, I'm curious as to what happened. Scientific method, and all that.
If everyone had installed a switch, and I hadn't and then this happened?
H O W E V E R - further research has shown that a lot of these mods involve both a Bluetooth module, AND an aux jack. And, the aux jack acts as a switch - even though a switch is not physically installed.
Never said I didn't like your advice. Said I wanted to continue experimentation.
Toodle-Oooo.

Your Big Clue is......
"Aux Jack"
You wired the Bluetooth module in parallel with the stereo output which "one or both can short circuit...."
Au revoir
Edit: Or continue 'experimenting'.....[This message has been edited by Vintage-Nut (edited 08-13-2023).]

Yes, and I addressed that in my last post, that it, itself, acts like a switch I just don't understand why you're being rude.

You could have simply never said a word, but you chose to be rude. Simply because I want to know the "whys" of something.
So, why haven't you just gone away?
Go ahead, say the quiet part out loud.

Please do. I went to a whole lot of trouble to connect a bluetooth adapter to my "newer" GM radio. (It's a ~2001 GMC Sonoma part #.) Although it's kind of a kludge - it's piggy-backed onto an iPod adapter - it works decently, but the (aftermarket) pieces are getting hard to find, due to the age of the radio itself.
OTOH, It's hard to beat a $3 circuit board.

That's one of the biggest reasons I've been trying to puzzle this out. The circuit board is tiny, and works great out of the box, with headphones plugged in. The 12V adapter takes advantage of the internal 12V point, and you can buy them for very little money.
