I've had to do that exact same thing for a 4-Speed V6 Fiero I had back in the day (85 GT hardtop). The hardest part was finding what was broken or actually out of place, and by chance I noticed that one of the metal clips that holds it into the bracket had broken. I can't remember what I used, but it was equally ghetto... like maybe a coat hanger or a zip tie... haha...
