Audi 7 speed Dual Clutch Automatic (Page 2/3)

Just a bit of a warning; The dual-clutch transmissions shift fast and smooth- but they can weigh a LOT... the C8 trans weighs 350 lbs!

It weighs almost as much as the ENGINE...and that is why the C8 vette has a 40/60 weight distribution (idiotic)

If they would just make a version of the C8 with MANUAL transmission, they could get the overall weight down under 3500 lbs and the weight distribution to 43/57....

this transmission is a DL 382 7Fand is rated for 400 nm or 295 foot lbs of torque the is a quatro version rated at 500 nm it has 1 more clutch fritction per cluttch pack and better bearings it is 110 KG or 242.5 pounds but remember that that is clutch pack and dual mass flywheel . for a transbers dual clutch VW DQ 500 handles 500 to 600 Nm of torque and is 96 kg

I remember reading about how CVT (conical) auto trannies were going to be the wave of the future. Are there any applications that could be moved over to the Fiero?

Lol, I clicked this thinking someone had swapped in a manual transmission, and then there was some 70s dude that popped up.

Ok the real question is can you put it in a fiero with a Ls engine and i feel you can as the axle centerline is a inch and a half behind the bellhousing surface and I went out and measurd my ls block is 20 1/2 front to back so with a 1/2 inch adaptor plate the axle center line is 22 inches from the front of the block so with the heads about 1/2 inch from the firewall you should be 1 1/2 inches out of line with the axle wheel hube and i ran my Audi V8 fiero with about 3 to 4 inches out of line no problems .

Well I am looking for a company who makes a controlor for this transmission as HTG is no longer in buisness so i have not bought the transmisson yet even though i can pick one up for $399 out of the salvage yard.

Ok afetr looking at many thing's it seems that the ZF 8hp is the way to go the only thing is i have not found it in fwd from Audi but i feel you can do like they do to Subaru transmissions they make a kit to block off the rear output shaft and couple the shafts together and it appears that you can do the same on the ZF 8hp and these trans are about bullet proof the 8hp90 can handle 900Nm of torque audi A8 have them .
