They have a Y-piece with a wafer check valve that allows air to be sucked in bypassing the compressor when the compressor is not running or is way out on the curve

Plotting the "10.8 lb/min" point, and extrapolating (assuming that mass flow increases linearly with pressure ratio) until the compressor is maxed out, it looks like a pressure ratio of 1.28 is possible.

2.8 Fiero engine continues building power at higher RPM (like 5000+); in this range, I don't think the torqamp can increase peak power.

For 2500 Euro, I wouldn't get excited over this when much of the same effect (more low-end, midrange) could be had by bolting a 3.4L / 3.5L shortblock in place.

A normal turbo can cost a lot less than 2500 Euro and generate a pressure ratio of 2.0 or more...

I should probably step out of this thread right now... it wasn't considerate of me to drop in and crap on this idea.

173ci at 4000 RPM and 75% VE is 148 acfm which is 10.8 lbs/min at 100 kPa and 60 'F.

To accelerate quickly low end and mid-range torque are just as important as HP at 6000 rpm.

Why get out - the whole point is to have a technical discussion - I think that at 2500 Euro there are better power adder options. But like most new technolgies the cost goes down as more players get into the market.

There is another company Duryea with a 12V option - the problem is I don't know how a short draw of 600A @ 12V can be supported by a reasonable battery system.

A real life example. I have an 84 Fiero with a high output 2.3L Quad 4. This N/A engine pulls like a turbo from 4000 to 6800 rpm. I have taken it to the drag strip with unimpressive results. I take it to near the rev limiter in 1st gear. When I shift to 2nd gear it drops back to about 3000 rpm and there is this long lag until the RPMs get back into the power band. If there were 4 psi of boost between 3000 and 4000 rpm it would probably take a second off the 1/4 mile times.

100 kPa = 14.5 psia. 1.28 * 14.5 psia = 18.6 psia - 14.5 psia = 4.1 psi of boost

Their own video says 1psi

A 3.4L with a Fiero intake is a combination that cries out for boost.
