guess it was just the bulbs. Ordered new dedicated brake LED's, 3rd brake LED, installed them all and now I have tail lights and brake lights when the lights are on.

But LED last Decades.....
Only on paper or built correctly into whatever.
Drop in LED from most places won't last in cars for 1 or more reasons and only some highlights in my Cave, LED poisoning I don't even trust Osram/Sylvania selling LED under BS "Off Road" label that typically cost $10+ per "bulb." (2357R $19.99 per pair even at Wmart...)

I installed these 1157 Plasma LED bulbs in my daily driver turn signals and back up lights in 2017. I have replaced 1 turn signal bulb so far. They are much brighter than the incandescent bulbs they replaced.
