I had one installed at the local Sound Warehouse. When they installed my sound system they put the antenna inside, running the width of the dash. Works great...excellent reception and I live in the mountains. Highly recommended.

Fiero OE antennas have 2 or more styles... Most have a long strait ones. 87 "Sport" package and many some others have a short metal antenna w/ a coils section in the middle.
All I've seen are black too and yes can be hard to see or be a safety problem cleaning the glass etc.
Is also easy to damage or break when large things and morons hit them. That's why long ago I hid the antenna as said above. And doesn't need to pull the fender to do so.

If the stud breaks trying to remove the antenna... carefully drill a very small hole to fit small self tapper screw to anchor the wire. (Variable speed Dremmel w/ a chuck helps small drill bits. The Chuck is ~ $10 extra w/ most dremmel "kits" that don't come w/.)

Ogre, I love this idea! This keeps the body clean and slick and looking like it belongs when it goes to track day! A question or two before I start this - is the small gauge to allow the wire to be stuck in beside the windshield trim? Would insulated be better than bare, to avoid touching any metal? What about stainless, like TIG rod, with heat shrink over it? Just so you know, I've been accused of over-thinking things before; it will neither surprise me nor hurt my feelings if that's the case now!

Any insulated copper wire will do if installed hidden. Sun light etc can "eat" exposed insulation over time.

Can even use 24awg or thinner wire if trim is hard and trying to break itself as you try to push wire in the hidden gap. Thin wire can break if you use force.

Do not need SS wire and any hard wire make problems trying to bend around whatever.
