I would like to drive my car in a parade today— here in Billings we have a “Burn The Point” parade. I have disconnected the one wire to the headlight motor in question, and raised it. Leaving it disconnected, can I lower the light without causing problems since that wire is disconnected? Or am I going to start the drain again?

I suppose I could drive it with the lights on… or disconnect the other motor too… any suggestions? I do have a motor and harness from an ‘87 on the way, but haven’t received it yet.

If you leave the wire disconnected, there will be no further power drain from that motor. Just wind the headlight down manually... and join the parade.

I pop the hood and momentarily reconnect to have the light assembly retract.

Been going on nearly two years at this point, and though it's slightly inconvenient it works for me.

I've got an entire assembly that I need to put back together after a rebuild.

I highly recommend changing over to the 2nd gen motors- You will need a 87-88 front lights harness, and then the two motors and the headlight motor control module (It hides inside the left fender)

I tried rebuilding my original 1985 motors but the poorly designed load switches in the first gen motors are really troublesome.

The 2nd gen motors are available new from multiple sources (Because they fit a "Poopular" car (F-birds)

A few cars have burned to the ground because of the 1st gen motors running on...
