Consider that a blessing.

As has already been suggested, the best thing to do in regards to the "SHIFT" light is to remove the bulb. In case you're not aware, the "SHIFT" light is to inform the driver of when to shift gears to help maintain the best fuel economy. Is that what anyone really wants, some incessant nanny telling you when to shift... over and over and over and over again?

I found it nothing more than a constant distraction. If a red light illuminates on my instrument panel, I want it to be indicating something important.

Patrick and many others hate the shift light but any other dash light often have same problem.

Any dash lights doing things like is often the socket.
Socket and dash plastic around that can warp or break. Metal pieces can crack and be too weak if doesn't break completely and fail where connects to back board of the dash.

see http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/138175.html Instrument panel bulb layout.

When I first got my Fiero the idle and RPM overall was always high, so that light was literally just screaming SHIFT the entire time you drove it haha. Thankfully now that the idle is consistent and the engine is relaxed, it comes on at the proper timing. Yeah it's gimmicky, but it's got some charm that I can't help but love!

That reminds me of a couple of different girlfriends from years ago. Initially some unusual personality trait of theirs would "charm" me... but after the novelty wore off, it got damn irritating! lol

I want to figure out how to put in an aftermarket TPMS unit that will send a signal to illuminate a lamp if specs are out. Get rid of the SHIFT transparency and put in a universal TPMS symbol in it's place.
