I use a professional mechanics three piece sliding, locking adjustable prop rod.

That sounds like something I would be interested in. Where did you get yours? My gas struts from Rodney Dickman just don't fit without some moving brackets around. The prop rod might be a solution until I can figure this gas strut business out.

If that ever starts to fail... replace it with another? lol

Or if I'm at a show in high wind conditions and worried about the wind pushing down the decklid enough to overcome the gas strut, I will likely look into something similar as to what Dennis posted. That looks like a neat bit of insurance.

I've had it for years.
