To add to the confusion, the car in question is an 84 so the the question is were the Sunbird wheels available in 84?

Has this Fiero been in a time capsule since '84?

I've had two different 88 coupes. All had the same 14" wheels, with the wide lip, front and rear. I still have a set.

The introduction of Sunbird wheels towards the end of Fiero production (a running change) would have helped stretch low stock of the Fiero-specific Hi-Tech wheels. This would have avoided the risk of ordering a batch of Fiero-specific Hi-Tech wheels near the end of Fiero production, and then not having any Fieros on which to install said wheels. |

That's an interesting theory, and one that I've never heard. (And I've followed Fieros pretty much since the beginning.) Entirely plausible, though.

This I am not sure. It was bought from an estate (or from the children) of the older fella who had passed away, it came with all of the original paperwork. The previous owner was somehow involved in the Fiero Club of Michigan, that I know from the paperwork. The wing was added obviously.
For this car, I just happened to stumble across it and when I looked at it I looked inside, saw that it was an auto and left. The wife made me go back and talk to the guy....momma wanted it, so momma got it. Fun little project to get things working again.....you can see my other thread on that, making good progress. Car has just over 60k on it and came with a 1984 matching parts car.
Also, I think this is the only Fiero I have ever seen that doesn't leak....anything.
Interesting note, a 1977 Caddy Eldorado was traded in for this car, leaving a balance due of just over $1000.
