Don't apply power while it's removed. Adjust it manually. The throttle body heater port can be left as it is, or if you want to dress it up, get a brass plug and screw into it.

What did I say?

If you're planning on applying power to the IAC valve while it's removed from the TB, be very careful. I did that several years ago and lost the pintle when it shot off into the lawn!

I don't know whether all IAC valves operate with such gusto... but you've been warned!

Sorry! My IAC is working in that it adjusts where its positioned. I'm still idling high, and running rich. My current theory is the leak in my window side exhaust manifold is giving the O2 sensor a lean condition(as reported by the engine code), so its adding fuel, which it can't burn smoothly, so the IAC opens to even out the mixture. Its really a shot in the dark, I'm still trying to figure out exactly whats going on. I have a friend who will be sending me his stock manifolds when he gets them off his engine, not sure how long that will be as he is waiting to get his hands on a cherry picker. That will hopefully help some, but it will for sure help with the excessive noise.
Unfortunately the guy who replaced the fuel pump messed something up, as my fuse is blowing, and the car is no longer driveable due to that. Tomorrow morning I'm going to start on getting the tank pulled to check all the wiring(should also let me get my fuel gauge working!) and try to find the short. Might use the opportunity while I'm already taking that off to drop my oil pan and see if my pickup tube fell off also(losing oil pressure in left turns).
