well, that was awesome, finally got it to pop out by smashing the end of the crow bar with a giant rubber mallet, but the fluid came out so fast it knocked over my bucket and it went all over the ground i have to lay on instead of in the bucket, so nice i swear this car has got alot of fight in her, just not supposed to be against me if it was getting open heart surgery it would be slapping the doctors hand away in mid surgery

It should slide back in and pop into place easily. Might take a tap on the end of the axle to pop it in fully.
I have had some stubborn axles, one we had to drive out from the other side with a long bar (tranny out of car). Had to use a 20# sledge on the bar to get it to pop out....

My Dad used to refer to this general phenomenon as 'the innate perversity of inanimate objects.' The older I get the more I realize how right he was.

It is much easier to get in than it is to get it out. I used a crowbar...gently that is. Just enough to get some pressure on the axle.

To get it out, I use a pry bar like the one shown above, and I put a piece of wood against the transaxle where the pry bar makes contact. Then give it a pop.
I don’t remember having trouble getting it back in. There should be a click/pop that tells you it has locked back into place.
