There are 2 different 5-speed gearboxes. The Isuzu 5-speed was used only with the 4-cylinder, starting in '85. The Muncie-Getrag 5-speed was used only with the V6, starting partway thru the '86 model year.
Side note: The '86 model year was also a crossover point for the clutch master cylinder. The early style had the hydraulic line coming out at an angle. The later design has the hydraulic line coming out vertical.

The 85 and 86 4-cylinder ECM are the only ones interchangeable to your car. ECM's are also manual or automatic specific across all years. I've been told that an automatic ecm will work in a manual equipped car but not the other way due to the manual ecm program not having the torque converter lockup function.
BTW, longjohnsilver, not all Gen. 1 knobs have 2 holes in them. I've encountered quite a few that didn't. But they do have the big knobs.[This message has been edited by fierofool (edited 04-13-2020).]

Okay, maybe those brands are gone, but they still make wire trace epoxy and other kinds of conductive glue. Not sure it will hold up on a gen 1 headlight, but it's worth a try.

do you know of a brand or what i should look for , i googled it but its mostly liquid electrical tape type stuff and i'm pretty sure that would be about as useful as crazy glue
