You may be able to remove the rear cradle bolts and swing thre back of the cradle down to give enough access to the area.

Another option is to remove the deck lid, which greatly opens up the firewall access IMO.

I replced this tube on my 88GT just a couple of weeks ago. I did not disturb the engine or cradle. It can be done but is a fair pain. You absolutely have to disturb the A/C compressor and I ended up cutting the center mounting tab off of the stainless Rodney Dickman part I installed (the original did not have this and I couldn't find anyplace to bolt it anyway. Removing it made installation easier.) I was able to get it in by threading it from the left side through the suspension and harness and rotating it as I went. Biggest pain for me was reattaching the upper A/C compressor bracket to the head but eventually I got it.

Does anything on this pipe screw into the firewall? I am losing my mind of this simple thing. I already took the deck lid off because I took the motor out. And I forgot where this pipe went

The pipe is attached to brackets on the engine and the transmission.
It does not contact the firewall.

Entirely on the engine before putting it back in the car.
