Doesn't have to be something spinning. It can just be a frequency that vibrates something at a certain one.

no, it is a "scraping" sound (like if a spinning pulley was touching something), but it's not. cross between a major vacuum leak (sucking kind of noise) and scraping.

Is the scrapping when the car moves or just in gear with foot on brake??? I ran into issue with n* swap 1 torque converter bolt had backed off a little and made one hell of a noise when in Drive.

Check your motor & transmission mounts. My theory is with foot on brake while in drive the motor & trans or exhaust will torque or tilt to one side and rub against something. In reverse it will tilt away and touch nothing. In neutral there will be no tilting.
I had similar thing happen on a Jeep of mine due to a bad engine mount and only in drive while taking off under mild acceleration. Turn out to be fan rubbing the shroud. I know a Fiero has no fan shroud in the engine bay but you get the idea.
If all else fails, you could try a neutral drop at a predetermined rpm to remove any doubt. You did mention the transmission was new, right?
