i understand the challenges with mating the two together, let alone fitting the engine...i don't think the engine will be to bad as i have found a site that sells a Serpentine System for 289, 302 & 351W that reroutes and reduces the width and depth of the serpentine accessories...even thought about going dry sump in which they sell a kit for that engine, due to the sump is naturally forward on the 289 vs rear...i'm not worried about trans cables cause there is a number of companies here who can manufacture the ends to fit the trans end and the shift end...the main issue is mating them together and i know i can find someone here to do that as well...i know people who know a lot more people![This message has been edited by pete2814 (edited 01-19-2020).]

Well!......this is going to be a real treat! We have done our best to discourage you and we have not made a dent!....Start a 'build thread' and post lots of pictures....(you will thank yourself later)....and we get to watch...as well as answer a few Fiero questions along the way.

lol...yeah I'm pretty determined...I'm building a new home right now...it could take up to 24 months to start the fiero project...I've been researching and hanging out with friends who own body shops cause I'm going to totally restore it myself....once the house is done, gonna build a 2 door garage to store it and work out of....paying cash for all of this which explains the reason for the 24 months...working and paying as l go.

For vintage V8's, I always thought a 302 SBC would be a nice high winding SOB. But I kinda like the 289 idea, good luck with it.
Anyway, LSC out of Murrieta, Ca might be a good source for a custom flywheel. They know Fiero swaps pretty well:

Don't know why you would choose an outdated V8 older than your car. The 289s are in demand for restoring the cars that came with them, and the 302 and later are better engines anyway.
But to get a car with good balance and power, why not stick with GM and do a turbo Ecotec - you can extract anything from 260 bhp to 500 depending on what you do to it.
Always wondered if it would be possible to take a Cobalt SS engine and transaxle and swap into a Fiero - possibly someone has already tried that.
