Blue smoke on hot start. Valve stem seal set for '85 2.5? Exhaust/intake different? (Page 2/2) |

Oil smoke usually stays low to the ground, compared to water vapor or running rich.
Why do you think it is oil smoke? How many miles do you drive before you need to add oil?

Well I must say that didn't cross my mind. I assumed because it's blue and smells like oil, it's oil. I also have much vapor at cold start, lots of white smoke and also going up in the air though a little higher I guess. There's pretty much no oil consumption noticed since the oil change 870 miles ago, maybe 1/10 of the dipstick range, hard to say at this mileage, may be just reading error when the car is not 100% sitting flat.
Engine rebuild was 1400 miles ago.[This message has been edited by cebix (edited 12-10-2019).]

Drive it hard for the next couple of hundred miles. Dont baby it. Beat on it. Keep checking the fluids. Keep us informed.

Head gasket leaking coolant? There would be a slightly sweet smell in that case.
