3.4 DHOC vs 3800 II upgrade? (Page 2/2)

Thanks for everyone's input. I have decided to go with the 3.4 DOHC simply because of the Rev-ing sound it produces.
Is there a particular year and model car I can get the engine from?

It was an option in 91-97 FWD W-body cars (Grand Prix, Olds Cutlass, Chevy Lumina, Buick GS)
The 96 and 97 had better heads, and (I think) just a bit more power. I have also heard (on the internet, so it's gotta be true... right?) that the later ones are interference engines, while the earlier ones are not.
Whatever year you get, change the timing belt before you install it.

I have a 97 DOHC that is going into my coupe.
