Hey thanks for those resources. So it really does appear that a turbo is not the best move. Those are some significant gains without blowing up the engine. Nice. I think this paired up with a 4t60 may be what I will be aiming for. In fact that is enough power to not worry about the torque converter. Or a 3800, got a lot of reading to do on that one. Anyone still actively sell wiring harnesses and program computers? I guess I could make my own, they are really well documented on the forums. Think I may be getting bit by the 3800 bug, it feels overdone but I fully get why. Seems like a great pair, like it was meant to be.

3800 S/C is the "Best Bang for the Buck". Many of us think we'd go that route if "we were doing it over"...

If your intention is to race with the Duke 4 engine, it may not prove successful. If you are looking for just a bit more power there are several options. The 2.5L Duke engine while reliable and economical was designed for use in daily driver commuter cars. As such it did its job well but when GM designed this engine high performance use was not in the specification list. Coupled to a 5 speed manual, mileage figures of 40 hwy mpg have been achieved and that's excellent for even some modern day vehicles------------------ " THE BLACK PARALYZER" -87GT 3800SC Series III engine, custom ZZP /Frozen Boost Intercooler setup, 3.4" Pulley, Northstar TB, LS1 MAF, 3" Spintech/Hedman Exhaust, P-log Manifold, Autolite 104's, MSD wires, Custom CAI, 4T65eHD w. custom axles, Champion Radiator, S10 Brake Booster, HP Tuners VCM Suite. "THE COLUSSUS" 87GT - ALL OUT 3.4L Turbocharged engine, Garrett Hybrid Turbo, MSD ign., modified TH125H " ON THE LOOSE WITHOUT THE JUICE "

Since your dreaming - how bout going with one of those new 10 speed automatics.
Put me in the camp of probably trying a 3.4 or a 3.8 next time rather than doing over my SD4 again.
