I would definitely check your starter wires and make sure all connections are tight, clean, and solid. If your starter cranks slowly, might think about replacing it with a new one while the engine's out. Also, check shifter cables for ease of motion and check all chassis electrical connections to make sure all wires and fusible links are tight and solid. Might also be a good time to check your struts and replace if needed.
Also when you put it back together, add a ground strap or two between the chassis and the engine. Can never have enough ground straps!
