Ogre points out the legal aspects that should be taken into account when deciding how to modify your automobile.

Documented By Who and What Proof? Because most claim that are comparing brakes w/ big problems that they never even try to fix with crap GA "upgrades."

Mechanics and hydraulics of both ends up close to same brake force and same pads sizes, IE same working area, and more.
So you do all that work to end up basically very little to show but having More un-sprung mass at the wheels just to have vented rotors. Some others w/ the "upgrade" have posted such but no time to search w/ so many threads.

If you get away w/ 4 wheel GA calipers locally for various reasons, Again, no P'brake is illegal in many places and cops can be the least of legal problems after a wreck. More confusing, This crap and other "upgrades" maybe legal in one state you live but not in other states you drive in/thru.
To "fix" P'brake and Bias, others use GA front w/ Seville rear calipers but are same piston design as OE Fiero rear w/ same problems w/ dying pistons cause low pedal or worse, often far worse like brake failure, a wheel fire or both.

Most GA "upgrade" users don't even bother to center the rotor and wheel to the hub and many wonder why the car has vibration and/or wheel problems. You may not feel vibration but the car will suffer for any unbalance rotating parts. Is part of why Dukes break cam gears and other bottom end problems, they have no harmonic balancer from the factory. Is not just "weak" timing gears etc. (Only 87 and up DIS Dukes have a crank balancer part to replace the simple crank pulley.)

Oh you here the GA "upgrade" is so great by so many and often then a lot of that group quietly sells or junk the car later. Several times I see Public Post then PM by new users w/ brake problems only to find out car was "upgraded" by PO and now new sucker owner have to fix, often undo, the crap "upgrade" often costing Hundreds of $, worse when they eat core charges too and/or hire the job out.

As I said, you covered the legal end well.

The equipment legality on a car is based on the state the car is registered in.

Perhaps, if you had any experience with the GA upgrade, properly done, you would have a less caustic attitude about the system. I have the experience, have done several, the brakes work much better that a properly operating OEM Fiero system.

Maybe you should spend some time looking through brake system threads that are authored by Forum member fieroguru. You might pick up something useful, maybe even something you didn't know.

It could happen.
