Most aftermarket gauges come w senders. I got a cheapo from kragens because my original gauge doesnt work. It was $30 and works great. Its an option if you want to give up on the stock gauge or install the new sender elsewhere.

missing the question: IS THERE ANOTHER" threaded port" to put in "another SENDER" for a temp Gauge on a series 2 3800 SC ?? there is ONLY the 1 in the side of the intake manifold and it is used for the computer,

No, there is not another threaded port into the water jacket.
I have drilled another hole in the area of the existing hole in an application that was using aftermarket digital gages.
You must retain a stock sending unit to communicate water temperature to the PCM.

To solve your problem I have the solution you install a sender with 3 terminals Standard tx 66 (pontiac Grand Am 1996) with this sender there are 2 wires for the ECM and 1 for the temperature gauge is installed at the same place on your 3.8 and needs a new connector. Works perfectly on my 3.5 swap because I also have only one place to install a sender.[This message has been edited by claude dalpe (edited 04-26-2019).]

He is already using that sending unit.
His question was if that sender could be used with an aftermarket gage, or if there was another threaded port to install another sending unit.

Sorry ! yesterday I read his post and today you tell him that there is no other threaded port so I thought I helped him with this sender tx66 because I did not remember he had already a 3-wire sender.

No problem, at all, just keeping the thread accurate. Good contribution, a lot of swaps use them. It's convenient that GM used the same response slopes on temp senders over the years!
