Eldorado trans, I believe the Toronado was a th325....those guys are lucky there is one version that has an overdrive (th325-4L). They also have the option to flip the diff. And yeah I finally got the engine down to bare block and found that 6 out of 8 of the rods were spun, so now I have to find a good macinhe shop to take .040 out of the crank... but it’ll be worth it.

Okay, thanks for the clarification on the transmissions. But still a mid-engine, right? Sorry to hear about the crankshaft. Can you take .040 out of the rod journal? I hope it works out for you with out killing your budget. There is a 500 crankshaft on eBay right now for $975. Expensive engine to build on but lots of power. Well, expensive to me. Sound fast though! Are you aiming for 9's?

Yeah all of the journals can take .040 and I saw the one on eBay and that crank looks like it needs machine work too so that’s a ripoff. But yes it’ll be mid engine just a longitudinal layout. And I do love these engine and trans combos, and I hope it’s fast for all this work lol They can be kinda pricey to build up but not too bad if you watch what you spend money on. The eventual goal is to break into the 9’s but realistically what I can afford this season will be more like deep 11’s

Depending on your height and torso length, you might have challenges keeping the 2" of clearance. I am 6'2" with a 32" inseam and when I wear a helmet for autocrossing it bumps the roof structure above the DS window, so I have less than 2" of clearance to the chassis support let alone room for a 1 5/8" tube and 2" of clearance from it.
The challenge with an off-the-shelf kit is it might not focus on maximizing the available space where you need it. |

I'm 6'1" and similarly proportioned. I sit up to straight and can't wear a helmet in the car without moving the seat forward and leaning it back, putting myself into a non-ideal driving position. I've been planning to have Kirkey make a custom seat to my dimensions when I'm ready. Either I'll bolt that to the Fiero seat tracks to retain adjustability or I'll bolt it straight to the floor to put me as low as possible.
The seat to seat track bolt pattern is 14" long x 13 1/2" wide.

You'll likely need a side-mounted seat, bolted to the floor. You won't be able to afford a slider, as that will raise you up an inch. If you can recline the seat a bit, that'll give you some head room.
You could have a slightly lowered floor pan welded in, as another option. I had that done on a former MR-2 LeMons car for our drivers.------------------ Anthony
