I have a very early 88 GT 2.8 manual that has the metal plate from 87 on it. I think the vin is somthing like 000350? I will have to check when i get home.

You would probably only notice it on the AM band if you had any electrical interference.

I am looking for where the braided ground coming from the right side deck lid hinge attaches to the block on my 86 2.8. Mine seems to be on the front of the engine and possibly a water pump bolt. Is this correct? I attached a reference photo I found that looks like the same routing as mine. Thank you

Braided ground from head/block... Is basically main ground from alt and engine to frame. Is other heavy grounds but they are "backups" to this.
Many attach to body/frame by 1 of lower hinge studs but Not a great spot. Too much different metals and layers of "paint." Bolted to frame anywhere can get better connect is best. Sides of bracket where deck lid hinge often have extra holes made to use w/ self-thread bolts are good. Is one one left side that matches and used by ground to deck lid as example. Battery tray has 1 or 2 spare holes can use as ground points too. between battery retain bolt and engine.
scrap off paint on frame and coat w/ silicon or brake grease before attach the ground.

On the front head, above the #2 cylinder, end of the cylinder head. It bolts to the same bolt as the negative battery cable. It's right at the corner of the valve cover. Using your engine photo, it would be located right behind the outlet hose from the thermostat housing. It's one of the bolts that holds the lifting hook bracket. The other end bolts to a stud on the right deck hinge mount. It doesn't bolt onto the water pump. I'll get to another computer and post a picture of a stock setup.

I got it. Mine was on the front next to the bracket that holds the wiring harness. I'm not sure why they would put it in different locations but it went back together fine after I replaced the old ground cable.
