EFI on an SD4? (Page 2/4)

You talking multi port or just EFI?

Freds recently aquired car has this in it. The engine isnt quite conventional, being a concept car. I was listening to Fred and Ryan (Sinister Performance) talking about it at the Iowa Heartland Fiero Show. Ryan thought it was possibly the injector setup from a V8 Truck. The intake manifold did have casting areas in it for multi ports but they were not drilled out, you can see one in the pic..

That does look exactly like the Vortec TBI used in the 90s trucks.

I think Raydar was just asking about EFI in general, regardless of where the injectors are located.

That looks like the same TBI that my 305 Firebird had. Similar to the 5.7 truck engines.
I was thinking about port injection, but a TBI could work too. Seems like a step backwards though.
Would be interesting with that lumpy cam.

I'm about to go through it and see if I can make it run. And make it run well.

Stab a regular Fiero 2.5 distributor in it.
Buy an EBL Flash P4
Intake depends on which head your friend's motor has.

You'll have to fix that fuel pump shorting issue either way.

Progress?

Pricey at $2400 but curious how this would integrate? I'm kicking around the idea of an SD4 or some bolt on SD4 pieces, still researching and learning about the engine.
MSD Atomic EFI

agreed, way better the the atomic efi setups also.

Personally I'd use the ECU/harness from a newer Cavalier Z24. You'd need to find a way to mount crank and cam sensors, but once that's done you've got one of the best fuel injection systems short of a newer DI. SFI and coil on plug, can't beat that.

However at some point you have to consider when it's better just to swap an entire Ecotec in. Enough work on the SD4 and the Ecotec would be cheaper, easier, stronger, and with more potential.

On hold indefinitely...
Thanks for everyone's info and comments.

This is exactly what I was thinking of doing. Running that Dual TBI. Who is the owner of this car? I'd love to hear what they did for an Intake Manifold and what ECU did they use.
