I'm going to say something that's sure to get most of you upset but here goes, anyway...
As a practicing Christian, I know the Bible teaches that the way to get to heaven is through faith in Jesus Christ. This involves acknowledging oneself as a sinner, believing that Jesus died for those sins, and accepting Him as Lord and Saviour. The Bible Makes it clear that salvation is a gift from God. It's not something you get as a reward for good works and deeds. So, until Donald J. Trump acknowledges he is a sinner, believes that Jesus died for his sins, and accepts Christ as Lord and Saviour, he will not get to Heaven no matter how many deals he makes, "wars" and "conflicts" he "ends", or how many Nobel Peace Prizes he thinks he is entitled to.
I hope to see you all in Heaven.
And with that said, I'm done.

How odd that you somehow think that someone must make a public pronouncement of faith to you in order for you to believe that they are saved.
Not surprising that you try to use faith as a political / rhetorical weapon.[This message has been edited by randye (edited 08-19-2025).]

Matthew 20:1-16
quote | 1 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard. 2 He agreed to pay them a denarius[a] for the day and sent them into his vineyard.
3 “About nine in the morning he went out and saw others standing in the marketplace doing nothing. 4 He told them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard, and I will pay you whatever is right.’ 5 So they went.
“He went out again about noon and about three in the afternoon and did the same thing. 6 About five in the afternoon he went out and found still others standing around. He asked them, ‘Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing?’
7 “‘Because no one has hired us,’ they answered.
“He said to them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard.’
8 “When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, ‘Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last ones hired and going on to the first.’
9 “The workers who were hired about five in the afternoon came and each received a denarius. 10 So when those came who were hired first, they expected to receive more. But each one of them also received a denarius. 11 When they received it, they began to grumble against the landowner. 12 ‘These who were hired last worked only one hour,’ they said, ‘and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the work and the heat of the day.’
13 “But he answered one of them, ‘I am not being unfair to you, friend. Didn’t you agree to work for a denarius? 14 Take your pay and go. I want to give the one who was hired last the same as I gave you. 15 Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?’
16 “So the last will be first, and the first will be last.” |

Mike, I suspect it's more likely to pan out like this. If nothing else, it's a good joke.

I missed the part where you acknowledged that you were a sinner ????
Did Barrack Obama confess to Christ that he was a sinner before he got a Nobel Peace in less than a week after he took power ? Without affecting any peace at all ?

How arrogant is it for someone to decide, of their own volition, who is worthy and who isn't? Or what is in someone's heart, and conscience.
As for me? I was raised Catholic. I don't necessarily "claim" it anymore, but I know what is in my heart and conscience, and I'm good with it.
Further... it's nobody else's effing business. I have little patience for people who want to get in my face and judge me (or anyone else, for that matter) because of what "they think I'm about.". How dare you people. Get over yourselves.
Edit - Huh... I seem to have lost two ratings (prior to this post.) Not that it matters.[This message has been edited by Raydar (edited 08-20-2025).]

Randye, I don't think someone has to make a public pronouncement of faith to me. I merely was commenting on DJT's comments about getting stopping wars will get him to heaven. You are correct though in calling me out. What I should have said is, So, unless Donald J. Trump has admitted that he is a sinner, believes that Jesus died for his sins, and has accepted Christ as Lord and Saviour, he will not get to Heaven no matter how many deals he makes, "wars" and "conflicts" he "ends", or how many Nobel Peace Prizes he thinks he is entitled to.
I don't know if DJT is a Christian or not. I'm just noting that Christians should realise you don't get to heaven through good works and deeds. To me, Mr Trump's comments seem to indicate otherwise.

Doug, I'm not sure I see the relevance of this parable in regards to my original post. Can you help me out with this?

Cliff, I'm a sinner. There's probably very few of the commandments that I haven't broken in my life and will likely break again. But the good thing is, I'm forgiven.
I can't respond about Barrack Obama's confession. But even if he did or didn't, getting a Nobel Prize, doesn't get you salvation. (Oh, BTW, I didn't agree with the award at the time and still don't. There were about 200 nominees and I would have preferred that it go to Hu Jia of China.)

Raydar, I'm not deciding who is worthy or who isn't. I'm certainly not worthy to decide. The rock in my eye is too big for me to remove the grain of sand in anyone else's.
Contrary to what you seem to assume, I agree with you that it's a person's own business on what they believe or don't believe. Again, I was noting that that good works alone are not sufficient for salvation but that was what DJT's comments about ending the war between Ukraine and Russia sounds like to me.[This message has been edited by Mike in Sydney (edited 08-20-2025).]
