EPA to repeal more emissions madness - aka "endangerment finding" (Page 1/1)

From their own website...

"The Endangerment Finding is the legal prerequisite used by the Obama and Biden Administrations to regulate emissions from new motor vehicles and new motor vehicle engines. Absent this finding, EPA would lack statutory authority under Section 202(a) of the Clean Air Act (CAA) to prescribe standards for greenhouse gas emissions. This proposal, if finalized, is expected to save Americans $54 billion in costs annually through the repeal of all greenhouse gas standards, including the Biden EPA’s electric vehicle mandate, under conservative economic forecasts.

If finalized, this proposal would remove all greenhouse gas standards for light-, medium- and heavy-duty vehicles and heavy-duty engines, starting with EPA’s first greenhouse gas set in 2010 for light-duty vehicles and those set in 2011 for medium-duty vehicles and heavy-duty vehicles and engines—which includes off-cycle credits like the much hated start-stop feature on most new cars.

EPA’s proposal also cites updated scientific data that challenge the assumptions behind the 2009 Endangerment Finding. Cited data includes the updated studies and information in the Department of Energy’s 2025 Climate Work Group study that is concurrently being released for public comment.

EPA will initiate a public comment period to solicit input. Further information on the public comment process and instructions for participation will be published in the Federal Register and on the EPA website."

===============
As I understand it, the public comment period is 45 days.

In another video I watched, Zeldin said, in response to a question as to what year the regs would be rolled back to. "...This doesn't reset anything. It completely eliminates everything".

As a former Environmental Engineer and Compliance guy, and very familiar with the workings of the EPA from its inception, I WHOLEHEARTEDLY APPLAUD THIS MOVE!

I'd like to see the NHTSA deregulate a lot of what's going on right now... cars look like crap, and it's all because of the insurance lobby, not because any of it really makes any sense at all.

It was BS when they did it. I am glad they are undoing this. This can be undone (redone) by the next Democrat president. What needs to happen is Congress needs to fix the Clean Air Act to prevent these abuses.

There are a lot of things wrong with the car industry right now. NHTSA, over regulated emissions, rediculous fleet fuel standards, failure to enforce right to repair, and laws and regulations preventing repairs and modifications.

I agree, NHTSA is a big part of the problem. There is an absurd amount of mandatory safety devices in new cars today. They just keep coming up with more mandates chasing after smaller and smaller safety gains. It all makes care more expensive to buy and repair. A broken tail light on older cars was a $50-100 fix. One on a new car which has a collission avoidance sensor in it can cost thousands of dollars to fix if the part is even available.
