Ok, hear me out... curious about something... (Page 1/1)

One of the things I’ve always wondered, is why countries like Iran, or the Taliban in Afghanistan, are so stupid when it comes to anything military related.

Case in point, when I was in Afghanistan… the Taliban would launch mortars into our base, but there was never any kind of goal or plan. The C-RAM would normally take it out (the big gun that shoots thousands of rounds a second to take out a mortar). But it’s like they never had any plan or goal. They just lobbed these mortars over whenever they could... usually setting them so they'd go off after they ran away. They had some basic intel from Iran that told them where things where... like where the prison was, etc., and they knew what would be the most impactful if hit... but it’s like they didn’t even know or care. You’d think with the thousands of mortars they’d send over there… they would at least treat it like the game of battleship… but they didn’t.

In Iran… they absolutely know that the technology that Israel uses is enough to really decimate the vast majority of their ICBMs… yet… they’ve fired literally all of them at Tel Aviv, which is insanely protected. There are several large cities in Israel that aren’t protected anywhere near to the level that Tel Aviv is. Now… I’m not giving a suggestion, to be sure… I don’t want this to happen. But for example, if they sent 1/4th of the missiles to Haifa, that city would basically look like Gaza right now, and the death toll would have been catastrophic. But for some reason, the Iranians are either completely retarded, or they think that Allah is somehow going to overcome the Iron Dome over Tel Aviv. ??? Why are these people so stupid? Again… not saying I want them to do this, I'm glad they're retarded… I'm just trying to understand how something so basic in my mind, could be completely lost by them?

I think they're looking for the "lucky hit". They've got enough crap to throw, so they're going to throw it.

What puzzles me is that their entire game plan seems to be based upon intimidation and bluster.
Remember how the Iraqis talked, about the "revered" Republican Guards? We walked in and wiped them out in a few days. At least the ones who didn't throw down their weapons and surrender, or head for the hills.
By this far along in the game, many people are just rolling their eyes and saying, "yeah... right". (I hope that doesn't bite us in the ass.)
Now, the whole "fighting cave men on their own turf" turned out to be a quagmire, but the "professionals" seemed - at least to the outsiders like me - to be a pushover.
I don't believe that Iran is much better than most of the other middle-east countries. Just a different "flavor".
(The same could be said about Russia, but that's a whole 'nother conversation.)

Different cultures, different religions, different rearing and most likely several other things makes it impossible for me to explain the terrorist/extremist mindset.

All I can really suggest is if, either an individual, a group or a country wishes to do or harm to the US and its citizens, they deserve a can of Whoop Ass opened up on them.
Tolerance of such is what got us where we are now.
It's one thing to Speak Softly and Carry a Big Stick but, if not willing to use that Big Stick to defend ourselves, well then it might as well be a fly swatter.

Based on our recent B2 MOP mission, I'd suggest the big stick has been brought out. Will Iran figure out a path to peace, only time will tell.
Retaliation by Iran will be met with tragic results or something close to that.

A can of Whoop Ass ? We have a six pack of Whoop Ass, and the whole case of Whoop Ass. If needed, we can tap a keg of new Whoop Ass.

Haha... Cliff.

Yeah, I agree. I'll just kind of come out and say it, there's a lot of inbreeding in the lower rungs of Afghanistan. I'm not trying to make fun of them, but it tends to be a cultural thing, and intelligence is not high on the list as a result. I think there's probably a lot to that.

Again, definitely not trying to make fun. A stat that doesn't get a lot of attention... but more than 300 thousand Afghans died serving the Afghanistan National Security Forces. These were all Afghan men that died in armed conflict with the Taliban. No one can look at that number lightly and say they didn't absolutely do their part.
