Bird Flu. Large numbers of Chickens are being destroyed. Which means the volume of both things mentioned may become short in the supply chain.

Ah. I mentioned what I did, only because just in the last couple of days, there's been an egg recall up here due to salmonella contamination. I didn't know how widespread this issue might've been.

Yes, bird flu, in Georgia. If the US state of Georgia were an independent nation, it would be the 6th largest poultry producer in the world. Within the last few days, 2 large commercial flocks within Ga have already been euthanized, and another flock has been discovered infected in Virginia.

All live poultry sales (sales barns and flea markets, etc.) in GA have been prohibited until further notice.

Yep, my "Spousal Unit" and I are planning on getting a small flock for our semi-forested area in our back yard although, it's not due to any egg shortage. That area drastically cleared from when we bought the property is infested with all kinds of bugs, ticks and other such creepy crawlers. We enjoy having them (the chickens, not the bugs) and they will help eliminate the bugs that bite, suck and bother both of us. Just need to get that enclosure built. So much to do, so little time and money to get it done.
