Leftists are worse than an infestation of rats, locusts and Stachybotrys chartarum, ("black mold").

Thanks for the link.

I have never been impressed by or much influenced by "celebrity" however Dr. Hanson is very much at the top of my short list of people that I would very much like to have dinner with. My career as a military officer caused me become a lifelong amateur military historian which in turn led me to the writings and lectures of VDH, which in turn led me to his insightful sociopolitical commentary.

Shelby Foote's books on the American Civil War are also among some of my most treasured and his political and social insights, both antebellum and post war, inform a lot about why we are where we are now in this country.

Still waiting for your answer.

Big cities are not just shaped and controlled by "City Hall."

What happens and who's in control in the counties that surround big cities, or that are adjacent to big cities... the state government... and the federal government.

This all factors into the evolution of any big city.

If I were looking for an in-depth understanding of Detroit, I wouldn't be looking for it on this forum.

What factors shaped and favored the restoration and growth of Nagasaki after World War Two?

How little or how much of a hand should be ascribed to liberalism and liberal governance—in substance, if not in name?

I can't speak to that question with any confidence or authority, because I have never researched it.

I am confident that I can point to some other people who, likewise, could not speak to that question intelligibly, because they are in the same underinformed "boat" as I am, when it comes to an in-depth understanding of postwar Nagasaki.

I know these people by their screen names.
