History proves this to be completely false. During the times of greatest "economic freedom" we also saw the greatest oppression of the common man.. Back when large corporations were "free" they formed monopolies that destroyed competition from the "little guys" and led to price controls and market manipulation. Using this "economic freedom" business magnates amassed fortunes through price gouging and suppressed wages.

Without strong government regulation there is no "freedom" for the common man. They all become subjects of oppression by the wealthy.

This is not a "theory". This is a fact proven by the history of the United States.
