What blackrams is saying is that the prosecution of the case was all about Donald Trump and the compromising of Donald Trump's tax payer information, and the (reportedly) 7500 other people whose data was compromised is a circumstance that wasn't considered or weighed in any way by the DOJ prosecutors.
I have more open questions about the case, than I have answers.
Considering what I've read about the case, I like the idea (my own) of a 7-year prison sentence, instead of the 5 years of confinement and 3 years of supervision after release. Perhaps even more pertinent, I think he should have been penalized in the pocket (so to speak) with considerably more than just the $5,000 that he has been sentenced to forfeit.
I don't think that blackrams is any more informed about this case than I am.
I think blackrams is making extravagant inferences that go beyond anything that is publicly known or even knowable about the case.
If blackrams' prediction proves out, and President Biden pardons the IRS leaker or commutes his sentence before he serves his full 5-year term in federal prison, I guess I'd have to reexamine my thinking about it. Obviously, that remains to be seen. Hopefully, someone among us will remark it if it happens, and remind us of this discussion.

I'm calling BS on your last post. The SOB should get life. It's nobody's business about what someone else pays in taxes, unless that person wants to make the information public.
End of story.

Your interpretation of what I posted is incorrect, my stance is that approximately 7499 other people didn't get justice. The particular tax payer isn't an issue, the issue is all those other folks that didn't get justice. Although, I'm confident that DJT's information and the prosecution for that was done by DOJ so as to calm down those upset by the convicted person. I really don't care whether it was DJT's tax information or your's. If you didn't see that in my posting, now it should be clearer.

still think all taxes should be public records open for inspection by anyone
I see no good reason for secrets and lots of bad ones esp when nastycar rules about cheating are so strong and the government pays for info on cheats

OK then post copies of YOUR federal tax returns here or admit that you're a hypocrite and a liar.
OH, and while you're disclosing secrets, go ahead and tell everyone the details of your stay in Canada.[This message has been edited by randye (edited 01-30-2024).]

I was last in canada in summer 58 last time I was in detroit bill strow took us up to his summer house in his converted PT boat that boat was set up like a bus all seats no cabin and only had two motors not 3 war spec and he would only run the Packard merlins at a tick over idle even with the two stage super chargers no longer in use they still eat too much gas demonstrated by taking her up to 50 mph very briefly and reducing the gallons carried why that matters I have no clue
my tax return was non existent the last several years I retired at 50 in 2000 my SS plus the wife's plus my state pension is just under the amount triggering the tax on the SS payments so no return required the last several years my cars trucks boats and house was paid for as acquired cash
and I hold no public office
