You mean like someone claiming that Obama would never do anything to upset Cuban voters....PERIOD when in fact Obama had eased travel and trade restrictions by executive action in 2015, reopened embassies in Cuba, and in his Sate Of the Union speech asked Congress to lift the trade embargo? Cuban Born Marco Rubio threatened to block any ambassador Obama may appoint to Cuba. Ted Cruz called his moves "a terrible mistake". Even Democrats like Cuban born Senator Bob Menendez plus Representatives Albio Sires and Deborah Wasserman-Schultz.

Even when a right-winger is proven to be completely wrong by facts like this they still refuse to admit they were wrong. Facts don't matter to them.

Again, nothing you're saying here has any basis of the fact that Obama wanted to stem the flow of new "instant" Republicans in South Florida... that were watering down the "old south" Democrat majority in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Democrat politicians in Florida had been working for decades to try to "raise a new generation of Cuban Americans" to the Democrat party, and they had been very successful. I have a couple of Cuban friends in Miami that are wildly leftist... to the point that a couple of them all actually think Communism is misunderstood... and would work if it was under the right person. They like and support government control.

Your comments above actually reinforce the fact that Democrats didn't want Obama to do anything here for fear that it would disrupt this and hurt the inroads they've made with the Cuban "community" to use a Democrat term. But when Obama realized that Hillary wasn't going to win, and that Florida had been "lost" to Republicans, he knew at that point that the nuance didn't matter anymore, and no longer had to consider the political battlefield but to cut off that flow of new Republicans.

On the flip side, there is a positive to eliminating it as well, it was well understood that Cuba routinely sent through embedded spies that would infiltrate the United States and be immediately granted citizenship, and among other things, we were also granting citizenship to Cubans who committed heinous crimes. They weren't all Communist-hating right-wingers. Ending the policy also had some bipartisan support since the state of Florida also largely had to fund every Cuban that came over with housing, etc... and it was very much a humanitarian crisis. The policy also increased the emigration from Cuba to Florida... which also led to more deaths since many of these flotillas would sink, and then you also had the politicians in the Mexican border states who viewed it as unfair because Central-Americans weren't being given the same concessions.

Just looking on, I think fredtoast has put together a consistent and logical explanation about Obama and Obama's decisions and policies involving Cuba and Cuban refugees.

So, for cliffw to say to fredtoast "Don't believe everything you think" without any elaboration... it's a small witticism, but I don't see that it cuts any ice.

So I wanted to post that "white flag of surrender" GIF.

So I did.

You should have surrendered a long time ago.

We are starting to go in circles here, but the fact that Obama did not take this step until the week before he left office proves that his objective with this policy was not just to stem the flow of "instant" republicans coming from Cuba. If that had been his objective then he would have done it as soon as he took office.

The change in Cuba policy was a result of other circumstances (collapse of Venezuela economy) that opened the door to the possibility of improved relationships with Cuba. It was a wise geopolitical power move. He only took the steps when the opportunity arose. He never would have changed the "dry foot policy" otherwise. And the TIMING of the move proves it. It was just one of many moves he made based on his changing policy toward Cuba.

How much product do they put out. A 12 pack a year ?

You can't run from the fact that they say the US only puts out 15% of CO2. You are pissing in the oncoming wind.

AB InBev is a global enterprise. There are AB InBev facilities on every continent and AB InBev-branded products in just about every market around the world. AB InBev is the world's largest brewing company, even after this big downturn for Bud Light. So I'm not sure about the relevance of what cliffw just said. I think he is likely overlooking the case for the six-pack (so to speak.)
