why is the cure for inflation to rase loan rates why not tax the top 10% instead (Page 6/8)

My point being that we are affected by the stupid decisions of other people. I have to have my car for work travel sometimes 100 miles a day. I do get reimbursed for fuel while working but not for general use. My car gets good fuel mileage 30 plus mpg even though it is an older car in good shape( cheap). Everything else cost more because of increased fuel cost. I make good money but see other that are struggling with this economy.

Heating oil here just hit $5.50/gallon. I can afford it, but it still stings that my last fill up was in the $2.xx/gallon range. Prices have doubled in a year. Certainly well above the 7-8% inflation rate that everyone is complaining about.

It's just my backup heat though, as years ago I saw the writing on the wall and had a heat pump installed. PA is full of natural gas yet the closest lines are three miles down the road from my property. I'd need a ridiculously large above ground propane tank so that is out. I'm currently looking into possibly adding an electric plenum heater to use for backup instead of the oil furnace, but again all that costs money (however I don't mind spending it in order to save it in the long run). Electric rates are regulated in PA, but I'm sure they'll eventually catch up as well since it's not like we're building or investing in updating any of the nuclear plants.

Plan for the worst case scenario (again, live within your means), it's not getting any better anytime soon that I can see. At least were not Europe?

Let you guys in on another secret with these "alternative transportations" hobbies.....they are a FREAKEN BLAST !!

Hitting highway speeds (or even city speeds on some builds) on 2 flimsy wheels is an even bigger adrenaline rush than a sport bike.

The factory-built ones on gas motorcycle frames are OK (Rukus or Ninja), but once ya loose 100 pounds off it with a different build base, all hell breaks loose.

Think 3800SC in a bare-bones stripped-down Fiero, and ya are in the same ball-park fun-wise. Cheap-sizing isnt sacrificing anything at all in the WEEEEEEEEEE department.

Filed in the back of my brain for a future build. I'm thinking 8hp, and probably do it under 300 bucks.

Inflation crimping fun ???? WHAT inflation ?

We are always affected by the stupid decisions of other people, dude.

100 feet over Georgian Bay in a single-engine aircraft at night (actually, it was a lot less than 100 but I'm not telling)....damn right I was affected by the stupid decisions of the guys who had worked on it...as well as my own to go "water-skiing" in an airplane in the dark and some dumb-ass controller who knew exactly what I was doing but let me get away with it anyway

We are humans. stupidity defines us....now hold mah beer and watch this !!!!

No worries, it isn't inflation. It's just your money is worth less.

I don't know what's behind the "Happy Veteran's Day, ray" from forum member "jdv". I'm not reading it as any kind of sarcasm or anything against "ray b". But the post that comes immediately before this post... that's "low".

*SNERK* rhymes with "jerk". How fitting is that?

I'm not a Veteran, myself. I've never made myself of service to any Veteran, much less gone out of my way to have made myself of service to any Veteran. That's a fact.

Nevertheless, that *SNERK* kind of sums it up, for the author of the post that comes immediately before this post.

I'm glad that I've not had the misfortune to have ever encountered him in real life. Or at least, this current version of him that has morphed into the lowest kind of online discussion forum participants—the "bottom feeders".

Whenever I am navigating the forum and become aware that if I scroll down any further, I would be looking at a message from the author of the message that immediately precedes this message, I ask myself (considering the context) whether I want to see it.

Often, I don't. But sometimes I do.

This gives insight as to what kind of a person you truly are. We honor Veteran because they served. Weather they wanted to or not.
