This seems like a plausible limitation, and less arbitrary than excluding trade/professional schools.

Whichschool of Marxist thoughtt are you referring to as being 'pure'? It surely isn't Libertarian Marxism.
Point being: wealth redistribution isn't an inherently Marxist ideology, especially since it frames Marxism in a capitalist box. Marxism does focus on equitable distribution, but that is not the same thing as RE-distribution.
For the chant I choose "klaatu barada nikto." For the name, I choose Rogeroni.

I just have to ask, where would you put the blame for an unpaid debt and just made the minimum payment. My wife had a student loan to get her degree, we paid it off just as fast as we could afford to. Yes, it was paid off way early. I don't like owing anyone especially Big Brother.......................

You don't even know what Marxism is. You just use it as a label for anything you disagree with. You have been well programmed by the right wing media.
There is no "wealth" being taken from anyone to "re-distribute". The schools already have been paid, and no business is losing any money.[This message has been edited by BingB (edited 07-19-2024).]

"WE" didn't inflict debt on anyone, the "STUDENTS" did that to themselves. No one forced anyone to sign on the bottom line. Just like any other debt, the loaner has a right to expect the repayment of the loan plus interest.

So your wife could not have gone to college without "big brother" but you hate "big brother"?
I see these types of comments a lot from the right.

The lender also has the right to forgive the loan if we wants.
What lender is complaining about not getting paid? None. The only people complaining are people who paid off their own student debts. Well congratulations. Now you know how the people felt who went to jail for marrying a person of a different race or for having sex with a member of the same sex. Laws change and people who had to live under the old law feel like they are not getting a fair deal.

Not sure how you came up with that but, that space between your ears is all yours, use it as you see fit.

If the taxpayers are paying of the debts, shouldn't we get the benefit of the degrees that we are paying off. Just think we can all be Doctors, Lawyers and Teachers. What is the gov't getting in return for these forgiving debts, that's right, gratitude. Here's a novel idea: If you accept the government forgiving your student debt, lets say 80k, you owe the gov't that many years in the military to cover it, got a bachelors, masters or doctorate, you are an officer. flunked out, or realized college wasn't for you then you become enlisted. GI Bill in reverse (somewhat, been 40 years since I looked at the gi bill).

First, We Don't Want. If you wish to reach into your own pocket and help someone pay off their debt(s), more power to you but, you are not authorized to speak for anyone else.
I'm wondering if you ever play the game of checkers and if so, do you follow the rules? Never mind..........
