It occurs to me that the only people with a 'Q' obsession are Leftists.

Conservatives couldn't give a crap, because they realize it is crap.

I discussed that exact same thought back on page 1 of this thread.

Leftists take the whole "Q" thing VERY SERIOUSLY.

You are absolutely correct, as demonstrated by this thread, they do indeed obsess over it.

"Leftists." Ha! Good one, "olejoedad".

... Babbitt was describing herself on her Twitter page as a hardcore libertarian, and tweeted messages of support to political figures like Senator Rand Paul, Meghan McCain, Tucker Carlson, and Candace Owens.

quote
In February 2020, Babbitt began to tag her posts with QAnon terms, beginning with “WWG1WGA” (Where We Go One We Go All) and simply “Q.”

In terms of her views, Ashli Babbitt probably didn’t stand out from the crowd massed at the U.S. Capitol. And that is precisely why the story of her political awakening—well told through her activity on Twitter—is so instructive in understanding what brought that crowd together.

Reminds me of a jingle that's been graffiti'd onto the wall of many a public men's room over the years. "No matter how you shake and dance, the last few drops fall on your pants." So sad here, for "olejoedad", who has lost his way here; his vision blurred by the "cataract" of denialism.

It's not the second of the two sentences here that "set me off." It's the first sentence, that ends (or ended) with the word "Leftists."

We have a forum member who seldom finishes a sentence, let alone an entire message, without tossing in some derisive reference to "Leftists." That forum member is one of a kind, in this regard, among the small cohort of regularly appearing forum members in this Politics & Religion area of the forum.

That forum member has been (and continues to be) so profligate and so indiscriminating in his use (an abuse, really) of the word "Leftist" and its analogues, that he has remade the word "Leftist" into a crypto-vulgarity that has only a scant resemblance to the commonly understood meaning of "Leftist."

These are "Leftists" that exist only in that forum member's remarkably deviant imagination.

"Leftists Gonna Leftist"

Yeah. That kind of lost any freshness it might have had after the first 100 times he used it.

I don't like to see anyone else looking like they are caught in that same whirlpool of mindlessness, circling that same drain, as if they too are about to go down that drain.

That's what set me off about the first of the two sentences in this (quoted) remark from "olejoedad".

By the time that the QAnon-influenced Ashli Babbitt was killed at the Capitol Building, she was not a Leftist, even if that could fairly be said of her previous years, when she (among other things) voted for Obama. I wouldn't call the Ashli Babbitt that got herself killed at the Capitol Building a "Conservative", but I wouldn't call her a "Leftist." So I experienced a kind of cognitive dissonance when I saw this remark from "olejoedad." It rubbed me "the wrong way."

No one should want to be like that other forum member.

Appreciate your sentiments.
Let me know if I can do anything else for you.

Since the left/right paradigm originated in France, maybe you would prefer "gauchiste", or would that be tre gauche?

quote

Definitions from Oxford Languages

left·ist
/ˈleftəst/

noun: leftist; plural noun: leftists

a person with left-wing political views.
"these values are shared by many leftists"

adjective: leftist

having or relating to left-wing political views.
"leftist groups"

I don't see it described as derogatory, only descriptive. If ones feels that it is a pejorative, perhaps he is embarrassed by what it describes.
