From what I have seen it is a very small number of criminals that do the vast majority of the crimes. It is in the neighborhood of 5% do 80% of all the crimes. That is why some people have rap sheets that have dozens of convictions over decades. Lock up that 5% and you cut crime down to 20% of what is currently seen.
If the feds can go into a city and "clean it up", by arresting and convicting the career criminals, then the city will have reduced crime for while until the next batch of bad apples grow up.
* those are approximate numbers. I don't have the actual numbers in front of me but I believe my point still stands.

Edited: Just now on the local news: The Memphis DA is speaking about the Court's calendar and how it is already overcrowded. He's not sure if the system can handle all the people currently being brought in. He's also one of those who spoke against the Feds coming in.

Most likely a very likely scenario. He's been known to be soft on crime.
Oh BTW, just learned yesterday that the full force of the TN NG has yet to arrive in Memphis. The news last night showed pictures of a train load of Humvees on a very long train rolling in to Memphis. The troops total number of troops is to arrive very soon. The news did not say how many NG were ordered to come to Memphis.
It's ironic when I see the news about other cities like Chicago and Portland. There have been a few protests here but generally speaking, the vast majority of citizens in Shelby County/Memphis are welcoming the Federal assistance.

Y'all haven't made the "big time" (national news) yet. Just wait.
In the other places - and this statement seems to be pretty much true of any cross-section of society - the small minority of trouble makers / "peaceful protesters" get all the press.
The people who just want to go about their business, and live their lives, get left in the shadows. Drama gets ratings or "clicks". Day-to-day life is "boring".
You'll likely never hear about the people who are happy that the NG/ICE is there.

Agreed. Just waiting on Soros or whoever bankrolls the out of area "Protesters" to send his/their troops in. I believe the Feds are just waiting on such an arrival.
