Nonsense... the problem is that I'm in the minority (of parents who care). Many of the parents who care about their kids education in these particular school districts are radical leftists and appreciate this kind of education. I used to move every 3 years for work, and my next door neighbors would routinely get interviewed by an investigator in regards to my clearance for background investigation purposes. If my neighbors all have "**** TRUMP" and "BLACK LIVES MATTER" signs in their yards... I'm not going to rock the boat when the otherwise think I'm a great guy. People take their politics very seriously... and these kinds of people become absolutely rabid if they think you're not on their side.
These are *your* people so to speak... you tell them to stop liking Communism.

There is currently a backlash against capitalism, but it is not coming from public school teachings. It is coming from a broad based dissatisfaction with the extreme wealth disparity in the United States. If that issue is not addressed then the masses will start voting for a change. They have no reason to care if capitalism produces more wealth if only a small portion of the population benefits from it. |
|
This is a misnomer... there are more billionaires and millionaires in the United States today than at any time in history... and substantially more so. Many of the people on Pennocks are millionaires, including myself, Patrick (I'd guarantee it), and probably even Rinse (based on net wealth). Under the Trump administration, the middle class grew, the wealthy class grew because many in the middle class move up. In addition, the impoverished class shrank. They didn't die-off, many of them moved up into middle class. It was the first time we had wage growth since the Bill Clinton era.
In San Antonio, I was one of the 1%ers by income / net worth (which to be honest, is not saying much), and all of my neighbors had BLM and anti-Trump signs in their yards. These are individuals that support the very organizations and large companies that are creating the monopolistic tendencies that are destroying small businesses and the working class. Literally, these are the same people who advocated (and still do) advocate for lockdowns, which directly led to vast devastation of small businesses. The irony is not lost on me, unfortunately.
| quote | Originally posted by BingB:I am glad that you do not consider homosexuality as sexual deviancy, but you are basically saying the exact same things about transgender kids as parents did about homosexuals in the 1970's.
Homosexuality was listed as a mental illness until 1973. Gay children were shunned and punished for their sexual preferences. Their parents told them it was not something that "normal people" would ever accept. But thankfully over time the people who support individual freedom convinced the general population that people should be free to love whoever they want and not be punished for it. And I think the same thing will happen with the transgender issue. The youth of today will continue to fight to support individual freedom and the next generation will accept that people should be able to define their own sexual identity as long as it does not interfere with the rights of others. They may not be accepted on sports teams or in public showers, but they will not be punished for simply by exercising their own personal freedom to chose their sexual identity.

I've had trans friends since all the way back to 2001. I'd personally known and been friends with at least 3 people who'd come out and gone through the full surgery by 2012. I won't get into their specifics... but the one thing was consistent... they all wanted to be referred to as the other sex (they were all male to female). What's going on today with the youth isn't legitimate "gender dysphoria" ... it's a cultural movement that's been utilized by our foreign adversaries on social media platforms to undermine the United States. We know this is happening. See my response above about Communism. Mental illness is wildly rampant in our youth, and many of them find solace in transgender culture ideology because it makes them feel like they're apart of something or fighting for something.
As an FYI, I don't know where the 1973 year you mention refers to. Homosexuality still had an ICD9 code, and it was still in the last version of the DSM up until this recent release. You shouldn't take anything away from that other than I just don't know why you keep saying 1973 has some significance.[This message has been edited by 82-T/A [At Work] (edited 01-12-2024).]

In 1973, the American Psychiatric Association (APA) asked all members attending its convention to vote on whether they believed homosexuality to be a mental disorder. 5,854 psychiatrists voted to remove homosexuality from the DSM, and 3,810 to retain it.
The APA then compromised, removing homosexuality from the DSM but replacing it, in effect, with "sexual orientation disturbance" for people "in conflict with" their sexual orientation. Not until 1987 did homosexuality completely fall out of the DSM.

No one I know teaches communism the way you claim.
You say that you are invested in your daughter's education. Just ask to see her history/civics textbook. There is nothing in there like you claim about communism.

It seems you're trying to win an argument Fred, rather than actually discussing a topic.
In books that cover political ideologies, they're going to cover "communism" in the clinical sense. That's not what's being questioned here. It's the interpretation that many teachers add in their teaching where the bias is often applied. The same as my daughter's current history teacher, who was Cuban, and vehemently teaches /against/ Communism. There are many teachers that also teach VERY pro-Communist topics in school lectures.
The same goes for Socialism... we even have politicians who are advocating for it, and can I assume you also are partially fond of socialism as well?
All of this, plus the catered manipulation they get on TikTok is a large part of why so many kids today support Communism.
Beyond that, I'm not really sure what you're going on about here.

So then you can start saying 1987 then, right Fred?
Worth looking at ICD9/10 codes too... and also SNOWMED, etc.
http://www.icd9data.com/201...-316/302/default.htm There's at least 5 codes JUST for identification of trans people.
There's also codes for being homosexual: https://www.icd10data.com/I.../Z69-Z76/Z72-/Z72.52 ... and for being bisexual: https://www.icd10data.com/I.../Z69-Z76/Z72-/Z72.53
But I think you're going off on a tangent based on a comment I made above about how communists and trans people are often inter-twined... because it's a cultural battle (they aren't really trans, they are just the 90s goth's of today)

I am sorry. I misunderstood you. I thought you were trying to blame public schools for indoctrinating children to be pro-communist. But since you admit that there is no textbook or official policy, and you agree that some teachers are clearly anti-communist I think we actually agree on this.
Kids are getting their pro-communism "lessons" from social media.

I have clearly stated many times that I support a capitalist economy.
But if you are one of the extremists who considers government regulation to be "socialism" then "yes" I support government regulation. Pure capitalism values profit over human life. It will even consume itself by placing more value in short-term gain than sustainability of the enterprise.

Why do your responses have to be so theatrically silly and obtuse? Of course you didn't misunderstand.
You know exactly what I'm saying. There are a lot of radical liberals in the public school system. Teachers unions are inherently radical and almost always support Democrat politicians. Most textbooks are going to teach communism from a purely clinical perspective. It's the lectures and discussions the teacher goes on about while they're teaching that's the negatively influential aspect of a child's education.
This is really frustrating. I don't have time for two retards who's only point to having a discussion is constantly trying to check-mate the other person by going back and forth with nonsense. This is completely asinine. There are liberal teachers, and there are conservative teachers. The radical leftist ones teach that communism is fantastic. This is not news. And yes... TikTok also plays a big part of this in teaching kids that communism is great.

I don't know what your definition of "extremist" is... so I can't say whether or not I fit in your mold. I think some regulation is necessary. But I also think regulation needs to be constantly evaluated so it doesn't become a hurdle for small business. Most regulation is "encouraged" by big businesses because they're the only ones who can afford to abide by it, knowing that it directly affects less successful competitors.[This message has been edited by 82-T/A [At Work] (edited 01-15-2024).]

Eliminate the U.S. Department of Education and outsource all public K1-K12 education to PragerU.
"Problem solved."

I know you were being facetious in your response, rinse, but that's a better option that what the Department of Education has provided for our nations future.
It's actually the smartest thing you've proposed since joining this Forum!
Kudos!
