I'm going to lose my mind if Biden forgives student loans... (Page 4/4)
82-T/A [At Work] MAY 11, 06:14 PM
Last I heard, the Department of Education told Biden that it would actually be illegal for him to do so... and then several senators on the Democrat side expressed outrage. I've not heard anything about it since Friday... ?

A quick search basically reveals some new articles that just rehash the same **** from Friday.

Looks like the only reason he hasn't announced is because of Uvalde.

My wife and I are over the cap anyway, so not like it would have mattered if I had loans anyway, but it just seems like such a slap in the face to responsible people. And during this period of high inflation? Ridiculous.

I discussed this with my wife and she feels that if anyone should have loans forgiven it should be medical personnel first especially after what they endured during this Covid crap. I agree about the slap in the face though.

While I wouldn't flinch nearly as much if certain professional occupations were granted relief assuming they went into and stayed in certain professional fields like education and medical, this loan forgiveness is simply another way to buy votes. Just another reason this picture is so accurate.

Isn't it strange that after a bombing, everyone blames the bomber, his upbringing, his environment, his culture, his mental state but … after a shooting, the problem is the gun.........

On the off chance they DO claim to go through with it,

-It'll be $2,000
-They'll promise to pay AFTER the mid-term elections
-They'll 'forget' to pay when the next big crisis is announced

I saw this this morning in an e-mail:

National Review: This is illegal, and Biden knows it. The executive branch has no generalized power to forgive any amount of student debt for debt-holders of any income group. Asked about the idea last year, Nancy Pelosi confirmed simply that “the president can’t do it. That’s not even a discussion.” Do you know how patently illegal something has to be for Nancy Pelosi to acknowledge it’s illegal? The Department of Education came to the same verdict, determining that the executive branch “does not have the statutory authority to cancel, compromise, discharge, or forgive, on a blanket or mass basis, principal balances of student loans, and/or to materially modify the repayment amounts or terms thereof”

Like the government relief checks to people that have never paid taxes.
This sounds like the same thing. They will get those that are working, most who never took out a loan or paid off their loan to fund these "checks".
Its another thinly disguised bank bail out.

Ah grasshopper, 10 Times Barack Obama Acknowledged That DACA Was Unconstitutional

quote

I can still remember when Barack Obama was campaigning in 2008, claiming to be the cure to unconstitutional abuses of power he claimed were systemic in the Bush administration. “I take the Constitution very seriously,” he claimed. “The biggest problems that we’re facing right now have to do with George Bush trying to bring more and more power into the executive branch and not go through Congress at all.”

Read all about the ten times at the link. Once saying he didn't have a magic wand, and, once saying he is not a King.

Cost me $128/semester.

Retired two months ago. Thinking about going back, and learning to weld. I'm sure it will be more expensive, this time.

Damn, you're old!!!!
Yes, it will cost significantly more. When ya get that welding down, let me know. I've got a few projects for you.
