A puzzling statement... so either side could have asked for a jury trial, and then their request would have been denied because a jury trial wasn't an option?
I've been under the impression that Trump's lawyers could have asked for a jury trial and that the request would have been granted. An impression created by some other reporting that I encountered.
Whobody knows? And will whobody, if he (or she) happens to know, please show up here and set the record straight?
"Judge orders Trump to pay $355 million for lying about his wealth in staggering civil fraud ruling" Michael R. Sisak, Jake Offenhartz and Jennifer Peltz for AP News; February 16, 2024. https://apnews.com/article/...f886543c157c9fc5b3e4
This is a good report. "You won't be sorry."[This message has been edited by rinselberg (edited 02-23-2024).]

"Whobody knows?" Certainly not you. Why did you even bother? As I said, "Judge. Jury. Executioner". This is the biggest steaming pile of horseshit I've ever seen. This actually makes south Georgia politics look decent.

I gave it the benefit of the doubt. I'm not impressed. I still maintain my original comment. Nobody was harmed by his business dealings. This was a political smoke show. But at least it will enrich the state of New York by $340 million or so. And they're going to need it because, as I said earlier, businesses are preparing to get the hell out of Dodge. Many have already. You may have heard about Remington? AMF.

So... that's all ya' got?
I responded to every point of your post. And that's all you got.
Yet another "rump rant". Just like I said, before. At least you're CONsistent.
Moving right along...

RayB isn't a dumb guy, but he's not really engaged in these conversations like others are. I don't want to be mean, but I've told him in the past that his posts are kind of akin to a man on the street wildly yelling expletives at passing cars and random people.
I still like you Ray, and I know you're not a dumb guy, but I tend to kind of gloss over your posts because it's just errant shouting about the same thing... - The Rump, GOP, BIG LIE, whatever. There's not really a whole lot of content for me to respond to. But I do try when you address certain things.

"Yo', where's my jury?" That's something that forum member Raydar made a point of making a point of. So why was it a bench trial, and not a jury trial?
Robert Freedman of Legal Dive provided what looks to be an authoritative (and very brief) explanation: https://www.legaldive.com/n...-engoron-say/696385/

| quote | | Had Trump’s lawyers made a request for one, he said, he would have denied it because James sought equitable relief that, under New York’s constitution, precludes a jury trial. |

So, that settles that.
This case will be appealed. The law the "State" prosecuted DJT under has never been used the way the "State" pressed the charge(s). The "Judge" allowed this to proceed and stated that DJT was guilty at the beginning of the case. Then fined DJT an exorbitant fine. I expect this case to be overturned at one of the appellant level "Unbiased" courts. The "political" crap in this trial is so obvious even a blind man can see it. Well, except for the Trump haters.
As Radar said, no one was injured by DJT or the Trump Corporation, the loaners even testified in favor of DJT and all loans were paid back with interest. While, I am not a DJT fan, fairness is not a consideration of the NY AG nor the Judge in this trail. I sincerely hope Corporations start moving out of NY, the workers/citizens of NY can thank the NY AG for that.

You just applaud it because of your hatred for the man.
4. I wouldn't know. I've never been called anything. Not that it matters. (Sticks and stones, etc...) But I do piss off a bunch of libs, and that's seldom a bad thing.
5. Your head is so far up the Democrat party's ass, that you can see daylight from above. You can call yourself a "turnip", and it doesn't change anything.
6. Quitting Nixon was also the Democrat party line, back in the day. Nothing new, here.
Big surprise... I'm not an automatic Trump fan. But he's a damned site better than anybody else who has been floated out there. Brandon can't find his own ass with both hands. Kamala isn't any better, and we have to listen to the cackling, on top of it.
You don't like Trump, because he'd be the first to tell you to sit down and STFU.

Remington just moved to GA. I'm thinking there is at least one more, but I don't remember, ATM.
At this point, if I were setting up a business, it would be anywhere but New York or the Left Coast.
While were on that... you'd better move out of Florida, before the "Rumpers" eat your lunch.

Again... he did it repeatedly? For years? And not one of the lending institutions complained. NOT ONE.

That's okay. The feds ran a "confiscated" whorehouse in Nevada out of business.

Brandon has had three+ years to fix the border. He started, right out of the gate, by dismantling every. damned. thing. that Trump implemented. Because "fsck Trump", and no other reason. Worked out well for him, didn't it! BTW... that UGA nursing student who was murdered yesterday, was murdered by - wait for it - an illegal immigrant. And there are... what? Eight million others? So thanks a pantload, Brandon. You d!ckhead.
All the other stuff? Buying groceries costs 1/3 more than it did three years ago. Loans of any sort cost 2-3 times what they cost three years ago. Maybe they've dropped a percent, but they're still ridiculous. Cars are so expensive that people have stopped buying them. Dodge has a year's supply of Challengers and Chargers - among others - on the lot. The desired level is no more than 90 days. Before you say "It's because of the 'EV revolution'," people have stopped buying those, too. In spite of Brandon trying to "mandate" the obsolescence of gas and diesel vehicles.
Seriously? Please show me. You asked for facts. I gave you some.[This message has been edited by Raydar (edited 02-24-2024).]
