I think this is a dishonest question, because I think what I said was quite clear. I'll try to be succinct as possible.
Do you understand the concept of an "oligarch?" There are people with great power who seek to build a more globally "complicit" society. There is no silly group like Illuminati or some nonsense conspiracy... but the end-goal for a lot of these individuals is a "global" ruling government. Each of these individuals (oligarchs, and those with international wealth/power) have a totally different concept of what would result from a global ruling government. For some it's self serving, for others it's doing God's work... (no famine, wealth distribution, whatever). But that's the end-goal for people like Soros, Klaus Schwab, etc. So, this isn't my opinion, they've conveyed this as something they believe the world needs.
BREAK...
Americans, at least during the 80s and 90s, had a sense of very strong "American pride." This pride was the idea that our Constitution, and our founding was next to Godliness... that the U.S. Constitution is one of the greatest creations among man, far exceeding that of the wheel and the moon landing. Now, understand with my paragraph above... the single GREATEST road block to the creation of a global society is the United States... because our Constitutional law has very strict provisions that prevent any ceding of sovereignty to external powers. Furthermore, our Constitutional law enshrines "rights" that have long since been eliminated (or even eroded away) in every other major society.
Now... what is the biggest major hurdle to building a more compliant United States to join the fold of a more global society? The Constitution. Who or what is the most ardent supporter of the U.S. Constitution... the population. How can you eliminate the U.S. Constitution, or erode away it's power? Convince the people that it's the right thing to do. So by slowly eroding away the pride Americans have for the institution of what is our Constitutional law, they can eventually change and overturn it. You do this by convincing people that what prior generations thought was good, is actually bad... that we must apologize for. This is really important what I'm about to say...
If you can convince an entire generation that their country was founded on evil deeds, you can easily convince them that there's a better alternative.
So you see... tearing down statues, re-writing history, using DEI and other propagandist ideology in our educational system, that builds a sense of hate and disgust on the founding of our country... one in which today's generation would snap their fingers and replace if they could. Take my daughter for example... the overwhelming vast majority of her friends believe that Communism is a really good thing. My daughter is beside herself... my mom was born in Argentina and fled the Peronistas. I basically spent the majority of my adult life in South Florida with my Cuban friends, all of whom fled Communism. My dad was literally born in a shed in the Netherlands during the occupation by the National Socialist Worker's Party (NAZIs). My grandfather spent 25 years of his life fighting Communism for the CIA in the 60s and 70s. I was even raised in the 80s. So you see... being anti-Communist (and for good reason), is every fiber of my being... as it is my daughter's.
But her friends have had a different education than mine. They're taught that every Communist country would have succeeded had it not been for the evil Americans. They try to tell my daughter that under Communism (which they think we should have here in the U.S.), everyone would have everything. There would be no need as there are enough resources for everyone. They do not understand that by human nature alone... resources are acquired and developed through initiative... not coercive government slavery in Communism.
I think I've been as clear as I absolutely can... you don't have to agree with it... but surely you understand now what I'm saying. There are two kinds of people who support these kinds of things... there are people like YOU, who believe they are truly doing good... and believe that replacing a statue of William Penn to one of Native Americans is being more inclusive and righting a wrong. But then you have the other individuals... the one who initiate these things... that being those in the current administration who initiated this. Their intention isn't to right a wrong, but erase the iconography that makes us proud, and replaces it with images that make us believe we're founded on hatred. If this country wasn't intentionally designed as a Republic... we'd already have a new Constitution by now that was more complicit with the prevailing winds of society, and more susceptible to propaganda and indoctrination. |

Lot to digest here. But just a few points.
1. The Founding Fathers included provisions in the Constitution for it to be changed and amended over time to preserve the will of the people. We have 27 amendments, so according to your logic a lot of citizens have been hating the United States for hundreds of years. But hating slavery did not destroy our government. Hating the bar to women voting did not destroy our government. Acknowledging our faults have made this country STRONGER AND BETTER not weaker.
2. I don't know where your daughter's friends were taught about communism but they clearly do not attend public schools. The rising popularity of socialism/communism is due to the ever widening wealth gap. I strongly believe that we need a capitalist economy, but if we do not address the issue of wealth inequality eventually a majority of the citizens will oppose it. It won't happen because some people suddenly discovered that we were not nice to the native Americans. It will happen because of unbridled greed of the top 1%.
3. I can't wrap my head around your argument that George Soros and other oligarchs want to implement communism and give up their control over their own private enterprises.
4. If the Constitution is amended in a way that you do not agree with will you accept it or will you take up arms against the government. I just ask because you have mentioned how the 2nd Amendment would prevent this from happening.

#1 - False equivalency.
#2 - Yes, they all go to public school.
#3 - Total misdirection, I never said Soros or Klaus Schwab wants Communism. Re-read everything I said.
#4 - Per Reagan, "I cannot be held accountable for a hypothetical question I do not answer."
Finally... I see no point in me continuing to argue an issue that my side has won. The statue stays, history will continue to be told, and woke people will just have to deal with it... moving on. Fred.

George Soros, Klaus Schwab... how about Bill Gates? Elon Musk? Anyone with a "name" and substantial financial resources to call upon, and an interest in global or transnational issues. I'm sure this list extends well beyond just these four.
But this is a blurring or conflation of transnational activism—initiatives, consortiums, projects; etc.—with intent to literally subordinate national sovereignty to a World government that would be at the top of the food chain (so to speak) until or unless there is a "Close Encounter of the Third Kind."[This message has been edited by rinselberg (edited 01-11-2024).]

So is it your daughter's friends and peers that are talking up Communism to her—or is it your daughter's teachers and other school resources?
If it's the school system that's being referenced here, it raises some obvious questions from the audience at the town hall-like format that is created by this forum; to wit:
Have you had any face-to-face conversations about this with the teachers or other resource persons at the school that your daughter attends?
What about specifics? What's a specific example of what they are saying or teaching? Does it involve a specific foreign country—maybe Cuba—where they're saying that it's the U.S. that has done most of the "wrong"..?
Pundits are saying that you are not going to move the needle on this (so to speak) without presenting it in more detail, and with more specifics.[This message has been edited by rinselberg (edited 01-11-2024).]

This is a good question Rinse, and I'll try to answer it as thoroughly as possible.
My daughter is in her 5th school so to speak. We've moved every few years for my job, and she was in two elementary schools, and two middle schools. At the time, both elementary schools were fairly liberal (one in South Florida, and one in San Antonio). She then went to middle school in San Antonio. These were all public schools, but keep in mind that I intentionally only move into neighborhoods that have A+ rated school districts, so they were all 9s out of 10s or 10 out of 10. She had some form of economics or history in these varying classes, and I've told her from the very beginning that I always wanted her to share with me any history she was going over in school, and absolutely wanted her to show me anything in class that dealt with race and / or politics (to the soonest point she understood them). Growing up, we NEVER used "race" terms with her. So she literally never understood what any of that meant, and when she physically had to refer to people, she just referred to people as either having darker or lighter skin (like if she needed to point someone out). This was by design, and very intentional on my part.
In any case, most of the stuff she got in elementary school was not so bad... but there were a few things that she'd get which were not based on county or school curriculum, but instead something the teacher would initiate. Things like questionnaires about race, or some convoluted variation of history which intentionally painted a negative perspective of the United States. So in every case, I'd have her look up the history herself, and tell me what she would find, and then she'd discover how a teacher might skew things a bit. Like for example... the teacher might talk favorably about China, or favorably about Cuba's government and healthcare system (or nonsense like that).
Her first real conservative teacher was this older guy in that middle school who was teaching about Communism, and all the bad things about it. This was during distance learning when everyone was doing COVID. So I was able to sat in on the class, and I remember her teacher saying... "I'm probably not allowed to say this stuff anymore..." and then went on to talk about how Communism is a form of dictatorial socialism that occurs through a one-party system, etc. He then went on to focus on Russia's history, and talked about Oligarchs, and went through all of the different systems of government. It was fantastic.
When she went to middle school here in Florida again, her first history teacher was pretty liberal. Constantly stuff about race, and whatever it is. So I was on it and constantly redirecting my daughter to things like the Federalist Papers, and other documents to disprove many of the unfounded comments that the teacher would make (like about the 2nd Amendment never meaning citizens should have guns). Which we know in the Federalist papers, was literally the intent (for citizens to have guns to keep the Government in check). Finally this year, I knew about a teacher who is from Cuba, and she's teaching American history... so I did everything I could to make sure my daughter could get that teacher, and she's vehemently anti-Communist, so I'm happy.
Now, about her friends. My daughter is a good looking kid, does cross country, basketball, and track every year (all three), is in like 4 different clubs, first chair in Orchestra, has a lot of friends, and I've raised her to treat everyone as she would want to be treated... "do unto others." So as you can expect, she's literally friends with everyone. More than half her friends are some form of LGBTQ. She uses their varying pronouns (whatever they are), and just goes along with all of that. She's not very "political," but understands that many kids are an extension of their parents. To a degree... many of her friends parents don't talk to their kids about things, so the kids get all their information from the teachers they have. Almost all of her friends that I'd say are in the "special" group... (some form of victim status) are almost all pro-Communist (in theory). The reality is... they have no exposure to it, they don't really know what it is... but they've been taught by their teachers that it's more equitable because everyone gets everything, and you don't have to work a hard job, but you get to do what you like. I mean, that's the theory, right? But it never works out that way, because in Communism (as my daughter explains), you end up with a class system of a 1% elite and a 99% equally impoverished.
I've certainly served my country enough, and my daughter gets straight-As (hasn't had a B on her report card in over 5 years now). So I'm not about to rock that boat by pissing off the liberal teachers at the expense of my daughter's grades and affect her ability to get into a good school (which is something SHE wants). But yeah, basically... half her friends are some kind of trans, and they almost all think Communism is great. They also don't understand how she can be Catholic, and also want to be friends with them (which is another misnomer she occasionally has to tell them). On the thing about all these kids being trans, almost none of them really are. Nearly every single one of them has some kind of "issue" at home. Either divorced parents, or some other thing they're going through. In at least two cases (four of her friends), there's a she who identifies as a he that is dating a he that identifies as a she (or put more biologically, a man and a woman dating). But they refer to themselves as the opposite and have different pronouns. They also all use different names than what their parents gave them. Someone on Twitter summed it up well a year ago... "Trans kids are today's goth kids of the 90s."
Anyway, there's literally only one kid in school that doesn't like her, and that was her previous boyfriend who she had to get one of those school "no contact" orders issued against him (which is like a kid's version of a restraining order). I think I've done a totally awesome job raising her, if I don't say myself. I was a friggin' joke when I was her age. I was getting Cs and Ds, knocking over port-o-potties, and screwing around every weekend. She's way more mature and responsible than I am.

There was, and maybe still is, a term for girls in school that claimed to be "lesbians" but almost invariably ended up years later in a traditional heterosexual marriage with children of their own.
That term is "LUG"
Lesbian Until Graduation
I find it a bit odd, but not unpredictable, that sexual deviancy has become so "fashionable" with school kids.[This message has been edited by randye (edited 01-12-2024).]

I've really noticed this as well. This wasn't really a thing in my high school. When I was in high school (which was the mid 90s, not really the wholesome 50s or whatever), of course as boys we wanted whatever base a girl was willing to let us get to... but it wasn't so pronounced. Like... I wasn't exactly a "good" kid. I graduated with a 1.7 GPA and while I never did anything (that I got caught) illegal, and even though I never used illegal drugs, I still partied and had way more fun than I should have. But we still viewed anyone who spoke about or talked about having lots of sex... whether it was a boy or a girl, as kind of trashy.
But yes... 100%, sexual deviancy is absolutely fashionable today. And when I say that, I don't consider "being gay" as sexual deviancy... I mean middle school kids identifying as "poly-amorous" or all the other terms. I just really do hope for all these kids sake, they do understand that while it may seem "cool" on TikTok and amongst their immediate peer groups, it's not something that a normal person is going to appreciate later in life, and some of the things they do today will come back to haunt them.

Well... I wish I could take credit really... but I think I owe it more to my daughter just having a good head on her shoulders. My wife and I are both kind of weirdos to be honest, but the one thing we do have is a stable family, and lots of communication... and we talk through things. But it's up to her to make her own decisions. I think parents don't really talk to their kids...
Funny story, on the way home from picking my daughter up from sports last night... we were leaving the school parking lot and I saw this rather ominous looking demon. It was a rather tall female wearing all black, with a jet-black trench coat that went all the way to her Marilyn Manson style boots. I pointed to the girl (who was walking on the side of the road) and said... "Shut the front door... what is that?" (I feel bad now having said that...)
So my daughter looked. As we started to approach, the girl had white powdered makeup on, and jet-black lipstick, and looked enraged with anger. Like... this girl looked like the devil himself had given birth to her.
My daughter "rolled" the window down pointed to her, and said... "YOU!!!! I KNOW YOU!!!" (which seems to be the go-to thing she does with her friends when she sees them outside of class).
The girl, with rage on her face, turned and looked... and immediately her expression turned from one of world hatred and destruction, to one of puppies, kittens, and freshly changed diapers. This girl lit up and said... "(my daughter's name)!!! Hello!!! I KNOW YOU!!!"
I was like... "Damn (insert daughter's name)... you're doing what Jesus did... making friends with all the people who are viewed as outcasts." I then told her...
"This is good... if this girl ever shoots up the school, she will absolutely let you live, good job!"
This girl has different pronouns of course, and her name is something totally normal like "Katie" but now goes by "Kit," so I said... "you mean like the Knight Rider?"
Anyway... I was excited to see that there's still some goths in school today, but apparently the 90s is really in style now, so that's a thing.
Anyway, I'm a horrible parent, hahah...[This message has been edited by 82-T/A [At Work] (edited 01-12-2024).]

I completely understand you not wanting to rock the boat and cause friction for your daughter, but if this is happening you should still report this to the school board. As far as I know there are no accredited textbooks that teach communism this way.
I am thinking they must be getting their ideas from online or social media sources. Social media is a very dangerous source of misinformation.
There is currently a backlash against capitalism, but it is not coming from public school teachings. It is coming from a broad based dissatisfaction with the extreme wealth disparity in the United States. If that issue is not addressed then the masses will start voting for a change. They have no reason to care if capitalism produces more wealth if only a small portion of the population benefits from it.

I am glad that you do not consider homosexuality as sexual deviancy, but you are basically saying the exact same things about transgender kids as parents did about homosexuals in the 1970's.
Homosexuality was listed as a mental illness until 1973. Gay children were shunned and punished for their sexual preferences. Their parents told them it was not something that "normal people" would ever accept. But thankfully over time the people who support individual freedom convinced the general population that people should be free to love whoever they want and not be punished for it. And I think the same thing will happen with the transgender issue. The youth of today will continue to fight to support individual freedom and the next generation will accept that people should be able to define their own sexual identity as long as it does not interfere with the rights of others. They may not be accepted on sports teams or in public showers, but they will not be punished for simply by exercising their own personal freedom to chose their sexual identity.
