I dunno, It's not always that straight-forward.
Take "Joe" for example, a successful accountant with a wife, 2 kids, nice house and a BMW.
Joe went through a nasty divorce and custody battle, and after loosing the kids, house and car, ended up between taxes taking an aggregate 50% of his pay, then alimony and child support taking 60%, he owed 10% more than he made at the end of the year just in those 2. He hasnt even started on cost-of-living yet. And still owes his lawyers money.
So he took a second job, but as soon as his ex found out, she hauled him back into court for more money in support since he was now making more. And of course his taxes went up and he now owes 20% more than he makes. No sense taking a 3rd job or starting a consulting service, he already knows where this is going and it wont take long until he owes double what he makes.
He had to do something for money, so he started growing and selling a little weed. That went OK for a few months until he got busted for trafficking.
He got out of jail 6 months later, and he wasn't one foot outside the door before the exes lawyers were on him looking for money he didn't have, and had no hope in hell of ever having. The government was still after him for the fines, and had taken his drivers license, and CRA was chasing him for back taxes.
Joe now lives in a tent and panhandles for change. He cant even use a shelter or food bank because as soon as he does the shelter runs his name and he gets arrested for unpaid, and no longer has the ID needed to use a food bank, since they took that too.
"Joe" is a real guy. I met him and learned his story in 2015. And there is LOTS of them out there.

Look at how many billionaires and millionaires get divorced too.
A dude bankrupt a multi-billion dollar crypto exchange and Democratic Party and Ukrainian money laundering operation because he was trying to save his relationship with this woman.

Here at least (and probably is by now 7 years later) that guy will end up (like the rest of them) in a subsidized bachelor (one-room) apartment or rooming house, living on 400 bucks a month welfare (called Ontario Works here) and in time will probably get government disability on a debit card (can't be garnished and all purchases government approved only) for about 600. He will never drive again, never get off of assistance, and wont even bother trying. As soon as he tries money collectors will be all over him like flies on sheet. So why try. It's a no-escape setup with the comrades putting them right where they want them. Everything possible taken and destruction complete.
And now that he is nothing but an expense, there will be all kinds of pressure for MAID to empty out the apartment for the next victim.
Isnt socialism and re-distribution great ! </sarcasm>
