Check out the Newsweek article. Sorry... don't have a link.
It essentially says that, since he's no longer being prosecuted, he can no longer plead the 5th.
He also can be summoned to testify before congress. If he lies, he can be prosecuted for that. If he refuses to appear, he can be held in contempt of congress.

If...

Ya know, that's an interesting idea.

What a potent opinion of truth.

Hunter never learned how to behave. He will be back before a jury of his peers. The only question is when and how soon.

Leftoid policy is a cancer on our country.

I wasn't really going to make any comments about this, because I kind of figured this is what was going to happen... but what I'm upset about is that the "administration" is considering preemptive pardons on several of the staff members, including Schiff, Fauci, and several others... many of whom are listed in the COVID document that's going to the DOJ for recommended charges. It's almost like he's going to pre-pardon his entire staff.

... which, I'm actually glad they're doing. Hear me out... Trump has already said he is not planning on charging or going after anyone from the former administration... he just wants them out and intends to move forward. I take him at his word. The Democrats though, in their paranoia, are looking to pardon entire swaths of their own people... which means that in doing so, these are the individuals they believe have actually committed crimes and they're trying to protect them. In effect, the Democrats are basically showing themselves to be incredibly corrupt, and it's continuously damaging their brand as the term goes on.

I don't enjoy this... honestly, it upsets me... in part because it validates everything I actually thought about this Obama-Biden cabal that has affected the Democrat party over the past 16 years. I don't ever remember the Democrat party being this corrupt... which is why I used to be a Democrat.

Can the financial gains be taken from someone that is pardoned be taken? If it is proven they received this money illegally.

Departing Presidents always take care of those who may have dirt they could share leading to potential issues for that President. Both sides of the aisle are guilty but, rarely have we seen the blatant lies that were told by pencil neck Schiff during the Impeachment Investigations and Hearings. He stated multiple times that he had personally seen the evidence and DJT had done this or done that. Schiff is a scumbag beyond any human piece of trash I've ever seen. Him, I'd love to see in prison. He might even like it there...........

Yeah, this Hunter Biden thing seems to be a unique twist on this... I don't think at least, in my lifetime, have I seen someone pardon a family member until now... anyone know if any previous presidents have?

Seems it's pretty resoundingly disliked...

62 Percent of Americans Oppose Hunter Biden’s Pardon

Newsweek: Americans overwhelmingly oppose President Joe Biden’s pardon that erased his son Hunter’s federal tax and gun convictions, according to a new poll released Thursday. Pollster Scott Rasmussen’s Napolitan News Service survey found 62% oppose the pardon, including 41% who strongly opposed it. Only 30% of voters favored Biden’s clemency. The poll also found Americans rejected the rational the 46th president offered in explaining his decision. Hunter was due to be sentenced in December in his two criminal cases involving federal tax fraud and a gun charge. He was facing up to 25 years in prison as he was found guilty on three felony charges. President Biden said, while announcing the pardon, that Hunter’s case was ultimately a “miscarriage of justice” and hopes that Americans can “understand why a father and a President would come to this decision.” The pardon also comes after numerous public comments by both Biden and White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre that the president would not pardon Hunter (Newsweek).

62% isn't a HUGE majority... but it's definitely enough to send a message that this was not a well-liked decision. I think we all figured he'd probably do this... but honestly, I don't know why he didn't just talk to Trump. I truly believe that Trump would have pardoned Hunter Biden... I really do... but maybe they didn't want to give him that privilege to do so.

Based on what?

Biden's Hunter pardon came after circumstances changed, White House says

https://www.aol.com/news/bi...ances-201449494.html

Yeah Right!!! The circumstance that changed is Biden's political career is toast so, he had nothing to lose by doing it (except what little self-respect he may have left).
