As long as a weapon is available to people to harm others, it will be used on others. Does not matter if it is a single victim type weapon or a mass type weapon, harm will be done by those that wish to do it.
The weapon can be a gun, knife, bomb or poison,... does not matter, legal or illegal, harm will be done.

It does matter, in terms of the scope and scale of the consequences that can impact a neighborhood or even an entire state, from any one criminal act or episode.
There's the theoretical or possible availability of a weapon or implement (semiautomatic rifle, poison, explosive; etc.) and there's the ease or convenience of that availability to any person at large, in terms of government imposed regulations and restrictions. That's an important distinction.
I am not looking for overly simplistic "solutions" or changes that would have unintended but negative consequences or side effects.[This message has been edited by rinselberg (edited 09-10-2022).]

Ban dollah stores ?
Since you like researching, look up chloramine gas.
Then look up bleach and ammonia.
It aint the weapon, it's the person holding it ( I do still remember how to kill with a magazine if I want to. Death by Playboy....Penthouse....Hustler.....Damn internet killed off that line of weapons !!  )
