| quote | Something very strange is going on with the Log Cabin Republicans. The group of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender Republicans has long advocated tolerance and inclusion within the GOP. But it’s now teaming up with a self-described "homophobic" troll.
On Wednesday, LCR unveiled its latest group of ambassadors for “Outspoken,” a spin-off influencer brand. Among the new LGBT Republican influencers are some interesting and respectable folks, such as lesbian YouTuber Arielle Scarcella and transgender commentator Buck Angel. But the group also hired social media troll Isabella Riley Moody as one of its new influencers.
This is bizarre for several reasons, chief among them the fact that Moody is not lesbian, bisexual, or transgender. But, more importantly, she’s actively anti-gay and openly works against gay acceptance on the Right.
<SNIP>
For a pro-gay nonprofit organization to align with, promote, and (presumably) pay an openly homophobic influencer is to betray its mission and, frankly, its donors. As a result, it’s not going to be taken seriously again any time soon. And that’s a serious shame.
Many of us within the gay and transgender communities are not Democrats or liberals. Like any demographic, we are composed of people with a wide range of personal beliefs and values. Yet the current orthodoxy in the establishment “LGBTQ community” regards diversity of thought with sharp hostility. That’s something anyone who believes in individualism ought to push back on — and we need groups such as LCR to push back from within. But their self-immolation means that vital pushback won’t happen, or at least, won’t be viewed with any credibility. |

I like to post these reports from the real world for aesthetic reasons... to weave in some contrast to the two-dimensional cartoon world that has become so manifest on this forum.[This message has been edited by rinselberg (edited 04-22-2023).]

According to a facts page from the Human Rights Campaign, the history of transgender and non-binary communities can be traced backwards through all of recorded history to as far back as at least 3000 years before the Christian era... "5000 to 3000 B.C."

Cartoons like this are a great way to s**tpost (a commonly recognized term relating to social media) by (1) seizing upon a particular event or a story that has complexity to it, and (2) scrubbing away all the complexity and "dumbing it down" for the purposes of deception.
You could call it the "old one-two".
This 5-minute "read" is (IMO) one of the better reports on one of the stories that this cartoon seems to be connected to.
