Using fossil fuels for energy adds CO2 to the atmosphere. This Capture6 technology has the potential to remove CO2 from the atmosphere, provided it's energized by zero or low carbon emissions energy.
As far as altering the chemistry of the sea... I'm not seeing that. The Capture6 seawater desalination process does not create the salt brine or salt that is a mostly unwanted byproduct of other seawater desalination technologies. It removes fresh water from the sea, but I've not ever seen that there's any concern about that. It's not making the sea any saltier, because the salt is being removed and combined with atmospheric CO2 to create inert mineral carbonates. It's combining CO2 from the atmosphere and salt from the sea to create something similar to limestone.
The fresh water that comes from the Capture6 technology could be used in various ways, and mostly, it will eventually be cycled back into the seas as part of the Global Hydrologic or Water Cycle.
As of June, they published a plan for a Capture6 pilot or proof of concept facility in Southern California: https://capture6.org/2023/0...-and-carbon-removal/
Edit to add: I suppose if this Capture6 technology were implemented on a gi-normous scale, it has the potential to reduce the salinity of the seas, as the freshwater that it produces eventually cycles back into the seas. I don't know. Maybe that would open the possibility of humans purposely putting salt into the sea to compensate... if "Mother Nature" doesn't compensate for it herself as part of her natural routine.[This message has been edited by rinselberg (edited 01-23-2024).]

better then praying or more accurately preying and hoping the next several BILLION TONS OF CO2 do not push the system in to disaster
aka the Gop drill baby drill lack of idea plan
too many people pollute too much
why are the nut con's against any form of birth control nut just abortion and sex ed also looks to me like they want to fail totally and completely just so they can sacrifice huge numbers of both our youth and out treasure TO THE GODS OF WAR aka military/industry/terror/system
your cult is beyond crazy

Being alive adds CO2 to the atmosphere. Plants have the potential to remove CO2 from the atmosphere, provided we leave things well enough alone.

Do you even own a calendar? It's not 1968 any longer.
Where would you be living if Jimmy Carter had not been elected? Asking for a friend.

A veritable "phalanx" of EV charging stations is seen in this photo from Electrify America.
According to INSIDEEVs' Rob Stumpf, an average of 125 new EV charging stations were deployed during each passing day in the U.S. for all of 2023.

| quote | | As of [January] the U.S. has 169,330 chargers across 65,015 locations across the nation. This is up substantially—70%—since the Biden administration took office and began pushing efforts to bolster the number of chargers—as well as EVs—on the road. |

I don't think it would be hard to find credible reporting that when EVs are powered by coal-fired electricity, it's more climate-friendly, in terms of greenhouse gas emissions, than if the equivalent number of passenger miles and drayage were delivered by gasoline and diesel-powered road vehicles.
No one likes coal-generated electricity, except as a way to get by until every remaining coal-fired electrical power plant can be replaced with electrical power that comes with a much smaller "greenhouse" footprint than coal.
China and India and perhaps some other countries with big plans for more coal-fired electricity... I have some ideas about that.
But what we have here—in the message that came just before this one—is yet another glib and misleading meme from the same group of people that like glibness and misinformation much more than they like reality... the same group of people that literally obsess over the word "leftist" and repeat it (or any of its variations) ad nauseam, like some demented chant, without actually saying anything of substance about leftists, because they don't know anything of substance about leftists, and only harp on the word "leftist" in this childish way as a way to comfort themselves in a world that is rapidly moving beyond their empty, antiquated and mindlessly formulaic ideations.
A demented chant... they should frequent an online chantroom.

The aforementioned meme is not "a failure to communicate." It's a failure to have anything to communicate. The meme is from the same crowd that was so ingloriously hoodwinked by this misleading canard:

Don't be like these people, unless you want to be reincarnated in your next life as a cane toad or something else that's loathed and loathsome.[This message has been edited by rinselberg (edited 01-24-2024).]
