Your favorite candy?

Skittles

Every June, Skittles repeats the colorless marketing to spread Pride awareness and raise proceeds for an LGBT charity. For the 2020 Pride edition, Skittles changed the candy colors from a rainbow to all gray in the United States, with the tagline "Only one rainbow matters during PRIDE"

What the leftist media tells you.

That multi-panel meme from the "Dinosaur" covers a lot of ground. Here's the part that's easiest for me to engage with:

That is misleading.

Greta Thunberg is the name and face that popped into some second-rate cartoonist's or meme boffin's head when they tried to imagine the media's idea of an expert on the earth's climate and climate-related issues.

As an actual consumer of media myself, this is the first personage that comes to mind when I think about the question "Who are the people that the media likes to put front and center as the experts on the earth's climate and climate-related issues?"

That part of Wichita's newly posted meme—the referencing of Greta Thunberg—is as sophomoric in its conception as this:

It's true, the water level in the measuring cup remains the same. It just doesn't have relevance in the setting in which it appeared, when it was deployed as an uninformed and frankly lame attempt to ridicule the concerns, at one of the recent international conferences, about rising sea levels, in the context of rising global temperatures. "It's not the icebergs, stupid. It's the glaciers."

So... does anyone think I like to harp on this ice cube meme, and put more miles on it (so to speak) than some people put on their old but indestructible Volvo sedan, or whatever?

Yep.

That's exactly my reaction to so many of these memes and cartoons that keep appearing almost daily on this forum. Same old... same old.

They never get any smarter.

As an actual consumer of media myself, I am calling out this "Bill Gates, SCIENTIST" reference in Wichita's "What the leftist media tells you" meme.

I am calling it out as "baloney."

I have never seen any media referring to Bill Gates as a "scientist" or describing him as a "scientist." The media tells me that Bill Gates is wealthy on the grandest of scales... that his wealth is epic. The media also tells me that he has a variety of interests and enthusiasms that are connected by the common thread of scientific innovation. The media has told me that Bill Gates has become a venture capitalist.

He has invested in and is personally involved with certain public health or medical science-related projects. Climate-friendly innovations to reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions that are a byproduct of farming and ranching. A nuclear startup to increase the possibility of smaller and more affordable nuclear reactors for the transition to a more climate-friendly energy sector.

The media has never told me that Bill Gates is literally a "scientist."

I wonder what names would come to Wichita's mind if he were to respond to the ask of "Please identify some of the current day scientists that you think are worthy of notice by people like yourself."

"Wichita Live." Think of the possibilities for talk radio or cable TV. It's a podcast waiting to happen.
