"MIT's climate clock says the globe will hit a critical warming mark in 6 months."

A lot of people are saying that Climate Mitigation is important and worth pursuing, even if the target of no more than 1.5 degrees Celsius above the preindustrial baseline cannot be achieved.

In other words, 2 degrees of Global Warming is not as good as limiting it to just 1.5 degrees, but it's still considerably better than 2.5 or 3 degrees of Global Warming.

"A lot of people" do not impress me.

This is a view of the Vizcaya Museum & Gardens at 3251 S Miami Ave, Miami, FL 33129. It's right on the Atlantic Coast, south and west of Miami's downtown district. This view is from the inland side of the museum building.

This is the entrance to the museum. It must be on the seaward side of the building. Imagine where the Atlantic Ocean "kisses" the edge of the land in front of the museum. That would be behind you. Judging from Google Maps, I would say that if you stood at the first step to walk up the outdoors stairs to enter the museum, you would be at least 50 feet inland. Maybe 100 feet.

This is what the entrance would be like in year 2100, factoring in this NOAA scenario of 7 feet of Sea Level Rise, compared to today.

I don't see whether that is the projected High Tide, Low Tide or Mean Tide, but I think that's somewhat academic—a moot point—if you are trying to visualize the general impact of 7 feet of Sea Level Rise on the coastline of the contiguous United States.

Seems like if you wanted to walk up the outdoor steps to enter the Vizcaya Museum building in year 2100, you'd best put on a pair of wading boots.

Man, I love Vizcaya... I used to go there all the time when I lived in South Florida. It's right next to Mercy hospital and some Catholic school. Oddly enough, there's a whole section of the gardens which has pools, etc... that were sold off to the school and hospital many years ago. I don't think they're allowed to tear them down because it's protected structure, but there's a fence that goes right through the middle of an emptied lap pool that used to be part of the gardens. It's both interesting and a little bit sad. Hopefully one day the school will "give back" that part of the property to the museum.

Anyway, I think it's reasonably unfair to say the museum will be underwater. It's been there for over 100 years... and the entire estate is built on a piece of property that's sunk at least a foot into the ground since it was built. When you walk up to it from the front (not the side you posted the pictures of), you're actually walking downhill because over the years the entire thing has sunk somewhat.

Never the less... it's an awesome museum and I highly recommend it. Just don't go to it in the summertime. It's worth going to in the winter, fall, and spring, otherwise it's just too hot.

NO BELIEF IS NEEDED

UNLIKE FAIRY TALES

WE CAN TEST THE DATA
SO FAR THE HEAT AND THE CO2 MATCH

FACT IS THE SUN HAD A DOWN CYCLE
UNEXPECTED SO UNACCOUNTED

THE MAGA MORONS DECLARED VICTORY
WHEN THE WORSE CASE PREDICTION FAILED
NOTE WORSE CASE HAS A MEANING
ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEED AIN'T ONE
BUT RWNJ'S do have to be TOTALLY RWNJ'S
