Of course you do have a long history on this forum of not just jumping, but pole vaulting, to bizarrely "reasoned" conclusions.
Aside from the usual Leftie unsubstantiated accusations of Trump's emotional state, even Forbes says that it's a "mixed" result.

The difference is that this was their race to lose.
Compare this to other midterms. It’s not about the end result, it’s about what it should have been by all accounts. Biden has a terrible approval rating. This shouldn’t have even been close. The fact that you can’t see that just shows how deep you are.

I know this will kind of come off dick, and I apologize... but the problem I have when you post, is that I kind of feel like you're being fake.
If you just admitted that you're a Democrat, then reading your posts would be so much easier. But the fact that you pretend to be an independent, and one that is mostly right-leaning, just baffles me because I simply know it's not true. You've perhaps convinced yourself otherwise... I suppose, but I find your posts annoying to read because of that, just being honest. Like, I have no problems reading Rinselberg's posts... because he has no problem with his beliefs and where he stands. So... I can have a normal conversation with him and debate issues politely. But in talking with you, you come off somewhat arrogantly... (though wildly misplaced arrogance) like, you pretend like your views are based on anything other than your left-leaning partisan opinions. And that's just fake...
Again, sorry... it's just the first thing I think of when I read your posts, and I generally don't even bother responding because of it.

You manged to capture your weird Leftist rationalization about losing the House in one sentence.
Better distilled as: "It's not about the fact that we still lost, it's about how badly we should have lost..."
Trying to deny or rename reality doesn't change it.

NEVER apologize for stating the truth Todd.
You're talking about someone who, despite have been exposed many times on this forum for what he really is, still somehow believes that everyone is too stupid to see him for what he is.
THAT is the arrogance you correctly sense oozing from him. That is the Leftist arrogance of ignorance.[This message has been edited by randye (edited 11-11-2022).]

To respond simply, I’m not. I don’t support the vast majority of democrat policy. I just can’t stand Trumpism.
I’m a classical liberal, and I don’t fit in either major party as they exist today. I understand that you feel like I’m misrepresenting myself, and I understand how that can be annoying.
I’ve stated my opinions down a list to exhaustion. I’ve expressed in detail a wide range of political opinions. They’re there for reference if you ever want to take a look. There is nothing else to defend at this point.
And make no mistake, I don’t pretend I’m some “enlightened centrist” where I just don’t support either party because I try to remain neutral. I’m not neutral—I can’t stand Republicans post-Trump. I do wish I could reliably support a major party, because I’d like to participate more.
I will respond at length to you because I respect you, but I’m not going to reproduce a defense that I’ve already laid out. You don’t trust me, and at this point there is nothing more I can do about that.
P.S., just for fun, some Libertarian Party news… The LP has been taken over by the Mises Caucus since our last discussion, at the last LP convention. The Mises Caucus is a right-wing leg of the Party who support Trump. They’ve had candidates run and then bow out of the race endorsing the Republican candidate. It’s caused a huge shitstorm within the Party, with State affiliates disassociating with the national Party. It’s possible you may be confused because these Mises Caucus members also purport to be Libertarian, but are clearly very different than I am. Just like any political party, there are many caucuses. I’m most closely aligned with the Libertarian Party that was in place from 2012-2022.

Kinda like saying that you're aligned with the Whig Party of 1843.....something else that doesn't exist anymore.

It doesn’t surprise me at all that someone who thinks political opinions are binary is unable to consider having opinions outside of their political party.

In case you missed it, Mark Theissen as a guest on Fox News did a great job pointing out the HISTORIC poor Republican performance in this midterm (see below). Today I heard Kevin McCarthy happily bragging that he had 'increased seats' in the last elections ... I expect if you had been present you would have seen fumes coming out of my ears. He, Mitch McConnell, and Ronna McDaniel, all need to be fired as the first order of business next year. But I'll go on record here predicting that the Three Stooges (no disrespect meant to Moe, Larry, and Curly, etc.), will continue to plague us from their current positions.
